Hmm because that is how I like to play the game? That is what I am trying to tell you. Forget about achievements, they are meaningless and they serve only as reward mechanism in Skinner box. But if you think that achievement is more important that fun from playing game, well, there is no measure to taste.

And @knownastherat Im just saying that I dont see the point in stripping your companions. I bet there is already Pillars of eternity porn out there somewhere but i dont really see why someone would bother putting it ingame.

1) Congratulations on killing him the second time, and doing the brave thing and going through with it because of the Ironman commitment,
2) Those are some brutal stats, and a very nice picture.
3) I wish you could get the solo achievement if you only recruit follows to immediately sacrifice them for stats. >=)

what was really annoying was afterwards the combat wouldnt end and i realised i had to clear the map, and i hate adragans almost as much as i hate the adra dragon (they have an unlimited supply of petrify, moonwells, and storms (that stun on hit)

 

Luckily I have an unlimited supply of summons. This is my summon graveyard: XD

the only one of those I might use is the shield and even then i would have prefered a large shield

Nice stats. How many crits/hits you have?

I no longer get hit by most monsters, Ive now equipped the shield i found and my deflection is now 137, at 137 deflection they have to have an accuracy of at least 53 just to have a 1/100 chance to graze me, they have to have an accuracy of 88 to have a 1/100 chance of getting a hit in. The adra dragon has an accuracy of 108 but it applies terrify. I mean i can quite literally walk into most situations and stand in the middle of the room. Sure i get flanked but it doesnt make much of a difference.

 

Pretty much anything from act one cant hit me at all, things from act two can graze me if they are lucky, things from act three are almost accurate enough to hit me but not quite, and i dont know about act 3

 

my real weakness is debuffs, i dont have a great HP pool so if i get hit with several powerful debuffs I can get shredded pretty quick

I tried like 20 times when I was level 7 and could not even get close to winning. Now, I've done it level 9 first attempt but when taking scree game crashed ;) Lets see how consistent it can be.

Im level twelve, i havnt done it but the character model looks like some of those I killed in the endless paths called Cean gwla, accuracy 64 so it can only graze me and i normally kill them within a few ticks of my dragon chant. Level 9 really changed the game for me. I built full tank for all my lower talents etc and that one chant changed me from a meatshield with summons into an aoe machine of death

So turns out that killing both of them does actually affect some things, the dialogue for this quest is different if you only kill raedric :p

 

Didn't he learn the first time lol i guess some people just need to be taught the hard way.

 

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE.

 

Also tip of the day, if ou get a bad visitor to your stronghold you can just kill them lol. no drunks in my castle. Not that the stronghold matters at all anyway

The thing is that there is probably not much wrong with my approach, right things in right time, but in this game its just not good enough.

 

She does heavy corrode damage btw.

Tried to count how much damage I took and i think it was something like 50 total but could be slightly more coz i have passive heal. My HPs low because i havnt rested since i killed undead raedric. I think my biggest problem with this game is the restriction on camping supplies. I mean it just adds tedium to have to keep going back to inns to pick up more

I'd wish nothing else but not to get hit. Tried 2 builds before but could not get it working. Nobody will do damage for me ~ summons and per rest deflection, well, as you said prone to debuffs. But inspired by your mighty defense I might try to come up with something later.

In another thread someone was testing priests and buffed to a high deflection. Problem with a wizard is their base stats are garbage tier. Even if some of their spells are god tier

I've played with a pale elf wizard with hardened veil solo a bit. Was quite durable in my book. Per rest deflection you can always get back if you really need it, can be tedious to backtrack though. +10 cold/fire resist with bulwark makes you more or less immune to these elements.

 

Also, for this particular fight, torrent of flame should be pretty great.

First try, level 9. Note that start of this fight is not quite predictable. If someone has predictable opening, the result would also be. I got creamed here at level 7 ... doing almost the same.

edit: torrent .. more than 15 mins it took me to decide. took raw damage aoe and protection.  Indeed, aoe around caster on fast? gimme

Well, veil has "instant" speed, so it doesn't really take any significant amount of time.

 

Also, judging by your screenshot  you probably still don't have ring of selonan, which you can pick pretty much for free when you get to defiance bay (travel to Pearlwood bluff). 6 level 3 spells really helps. Basically aclaricity + up to 5 fireballs (fast spells are great) is one of the heaviest damage sequeces in a very short time

Correct, I do not thanks for the tip. I have not unlocked the area yet. Would you care to suggest the pale build?

Well, it's pretty vanilla tbh. Int max, Per/Res/Con 10, Might/Dex - rest 50/50. You technically don't need Per, but your reflex will suck if you transfer it to Res (at least until you get W&S style).

 

For talents i'm thinking Veil, Hardened Veil, W&S style, Deep pockets, Scion of Flame, Secrets of Rime. I think Fast runner can be skipped, cause you have spells for that.

 

I'm only level 6 with it though. Was finishing my cipher solo.

edit: I play with Cape of Withdrawal on so Fast Runner (if it stacks) is alright. Anything can be skipped :) It can give edge well passively.

Tbh I don't think that extra spells are all that, esp level 1 & 2. With rings you can get 6 level 1 and 6 level 2 spells. It's enough, you don't need 7 I think (You likely won't even be able to cast them all) .

 

Veil is +45 deflection instantly with upgrade.

 

I don't "melee" in a sense of poking smth with a pointy stick much but I often cast at point blank range. I think torrent of flame and level 6 close range aoe spells will be great for this build. I'm also thinking of taking Spirit Lance for lulz (it looks cool).

"I" will be able to cast them ;) as seen on last screen shot, especially stuff like Aim or Siphon, though 2nd level is admittedly not as hmm useful. Maybe I put Mirror Image there or maybe the Veil hmm.

 

I mentioned it before but my philosophy is to end fights asap hance my build. The reason to want protection is not to get hit because getting hit is not efficient in terms of need for healing and/or being interrupted in given time frame. If, however, healing self also means damage and interruptions are not big issue, the reason for protection becomes less relevant. I try to melee as much as I can to avoid resting but in tougher fights its more casting and melee (1h) for finishing blows.

 

I am the last one to preach optimal builds less so play styles.
