Return to Raedric Keep Bug

Niml

Question

Not necessarily a bug but i think its unwanted behavior. When returning to Raedric's Keep to face the Champion of Berath (raised raedric), the Fampyr that offers to take you to the siege platform when killed reduces your reputation for Gilded Vale.

Since this is an evil undead creature I find it odd that the rep would go down, dropped me from champion to defender, and killing raedric again doesnt bring me back up to champion.

Found this thread after I ran into it and found out it's the main floor of Raedric's Keep that's causing the reputation loss (Major). The first time, I didn't kill the Fampyr and killed Raedric (Extraordinary gain), then noticed the reputation loss as I was leaving using the kitchen stairs. Second time, I killed the Fampyr, went through the front door, saw reputation loss and reloaded. Third time, I killed the Fampyr, climbed up the vines, then killed Raedric, then went down the Keep Chapel to the main floor to see the reputation loss. I kept going back up and down the stairs, and got a lost reputation each time. I also tried the other ways to get to the main floor (dungeon stairs) and lost reputation each time I loaded into it.

Thankfully, there's multiple ways to avoid the main floor to avoid this bug (I tested each one and stayed Champion):

Vines > Temple Storage > Siege Platform > backtrack (or mix and match with one of the other routes)

Sewers > Temple Chantry (if you opened that door) > Siege Platform > backtrack

Lower Ramparts > Temple Storage > Siege Platform > backtrack

or

Don't kill the Fampyr and use one of the above routes to get down.

I have the same reputation problem as Met.

Stepping into the Throne Room/Kitchen floor triggers the "Lost Reputation with Gilded Vale (Major)" bug.

In the zip:

-Autosave & output log that should show the bug.

-A save just after the fight on the roof, in case you need a point antecedent the bug.

Ditto. Hadn't heard of the bug, so I spent a good bit of time trying to find some time-sensitive quest I'd missed, until I had the blinding flash of the obvious that it was a bug. Not a huge deal since it doesn't bump me down a reputation level, but still unfortunate.

As a sidenote, it'd be neat if there were some kind of system where the log told you why reputation gain/loss happened. It could just be generic templates like "Lost reputation with ______ for [completing quest|failing quest|killing] ______." Doesn't need to be super specific per-quest fluff, but having something would make it a lot less confusing when you don't immediately notice the log entry, or when there's a delay between action and the resulting change.

There's not intended for there to be a delay between action and change.

So adding that is only adding features to conform to a bug, which is rather pointless since fixing the bug would be a better alternative.

Just to confirm, there are two bugs related to this quest that persist after 1.04:

- Area transitions into the Throne Room map give you a Major Reputation Loss with Gilded Vale.

- The fampyr servant that escorts you to Raedric disappears after the fight. I think she was supposed to remain there and trigger a dialog where you can decide to let her join you in Caed Nua, kill her, or let her go.

In addition, I believe this is also a bug:

- There's no one on the Throne Room map after the fight. I believe (this is unconfirmed) that the priest of Berath should be there and have a conversation with you regarding his future plans.

Confirmed. Only noticed the Major loss in the output window after I'd travelled elsewhere :( I'd left the escort Fampyr alone, killed Raedric, looted, slept then moved into the main keep before walking out.

Actually, there was an additional bug which I'd not seen. Durance had died, they rezzed back up like the others who had died, but their endurance stayed at zero and they didn't move.

Luckily, I was a by the doorway so didn't get a "you must gather your party before venturing forth". When the next room loaded in, all was fine again.

He was there for me, so that's not a bug.

You might just have skipped a prequesition (did you save the guy in the dungeon? Also he mentioned being there still since the necromancer died. Did you keep her alive?).

I saved the prisoner and talked with the priest afterwards, receiving his gratitude. I did keep the necromancer alive, however. I guess this could be the reason for the priest's absence.

Chiming in - I just killed Raedric again, and the priest of Berath was nowhere to be found after the fight. I let the Fampyr lead me to Raedric, had previously saved the prisoner and killed the necromancer. The priest should be there, no? There's not any reason for him to not be there.
