Are we only on "part 6?" I thought it would've been higher by now. Anyway...

...they may be out to kill you, but at least they're polite about it.

Spend more time with the Bell Keepers with my second character. Was fooling some of the players with the White Ring. Can you feel their pain? :D

Testing custom portraits because I want something different. Works fine. What to use then ... besides my cat.

I like the purple skirt/dress uniform. I like flowing/elegant outfits. Games need more of those, imo.

The Cutest Cat.

...but I still like the black one best, over all the others. Can't imagine why.

When you don't see the caster around the corner and by the time you do/try to get to them, it's too late. **** ogres.

Reload, rearrange your stuff and starting salvo priorities, do over.

The engagement system sometimes sorta sucks.

They need some more powerful weapons and armor for the game. Too many times I have my butt handed to me because the enemy is too powerful.

^ With many of the confrontation spots being tight close quarters with out of sight range enemies that show up 6 seconds later, it's even more aggravating. If you try to get your guys to ignore/dash past the frontline to attack further away mages right from the start, they'll turn aside from that when the closer enemies engage them while you're tearing your hair out because you know the ones in the back are the most dangerous, in a way.

Sure once you're expert/know the situation/reload it's easier but going in blind feels like it just stomps you, ala some FPS boss battles. Basically, with all the AoE and range limits, it's a turtle formation game. (edit - whether clustered in doorways/chokepoints or keeping tight formations ala Roman legions, haha)

I had an Infinity Engine "'Eff you, the player" moment when I had my chanter summon a drake. Unfortunately, I had summoned it right on top of a mass-death trap, killing the drake and half of my entire party :banghead:

Still soldiered on and managed to clear that encounter (Chaos spells for the win!).

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

It's gotten so I want to turn off the stop-when-engaged option, but that feels sorta like "cheating" for some reason. But I guess that would at least force them where I want them, even if they still take more dmg. on the way. I mean, with it on, sometimes you can't even get them to target a single enemy in circle around it, because they just cluster behind each other like idiots instead of positioning 2 feet to one side.

The pathfinding in PoE is atrocious, as it is with almost every game of this type, sadly.  I have to micromanage almost every second for all my melee party members in many fights because I can't trust the AI to not be a complete idiot.  In a recent battle, after Eder finished off a chump, I saw another chump coming toward one of my flanks.  I select Eder and tell him to attack said chump.  He has an almost perfectly straight shot after stepping around another of my party members to the gap between my flank and a wall, plenty big enough for him to fit into, engage said chump, and form a nice line.  Instead, Eder decides the best course of action is to head around my entire party, around the OTHER flank, behind the entire enemy group to get to this one enemy and stand surrounded by all of them, a path at least 3 times as long, because reasons.  Luckily, I was prepared for this absurd behavior, because it's happened plenty of times before, and I immediately paused the game when I saw him walking in the wrong direction, then manually guided him, little by little, to the right spot.  It's like they're little children and you can't leave them alone for 2 seconds or they'll run off and start chasing butterflies, or something; you have to hold them by the hand.

"No no, little Eder, this way.  Come along.  No Eder, we can't go into the toy shop, daddy doesn't have enough money to buy you more toys, you have plenty at home.  Stop crying.  I know, I know, you want another toy.  I'm sorry Eder, come along.  Be good and I'll give you some ice cream when we get home."

After Alien Isolation, I remembered I had Colonial Marines in the backlog. After reading everywhere how terrible the game is I went and installed some graphics and gameplay mods (SweetFX and the Survival Experience v2) without bothering with vanilla.

Very true. And while you're trying to babysit one errant member, the others are all being dorks/taking damage as well. I love RTW pause and there's always micromanagement/bad AI with it, but the (tougher) fights in PoE are a serious chore at times. I don't recall ever being this annoyed re: it in BG1. Possibly the level/area designs and what feels like a large collision area around each chr.
