I kinda join the request, although on my first playthrough I don't really mind what my companions have, i'll deal with it 8)

I'm kinda dissapointed of the chosen 'songs' of the chanter, when I leveled up I saw way better ones, so maybe I don't really understand the reasoning the devs had when building him, maybe im just a noob :D

On my 2nd play I might go with couple of recruits instead..

Use IE Mod

http://rien-ici.com/iemod/

20. Respec your party members (This console commands requires the IE Mod to be installed.)
This console command allows you to respec yourself or your party members (drops them to level 0 and allows you to relevel them up), or you can do the same thing, but also change their class. Changing the class is optional.
The console command is:
ChangeClass <name> <Class>
As always, you must find the ingame name of your characters using the "FindCharacter name".
So let's say you want to respec your companion called "BB Wizard".
Type in "FindCharacter Wizard". You'll get something like Companion_BB_Wizard(Clone)_4 in the console. This is the name you should use.
Now do ChangeClass Companion_BB_Wizard(Clone)_4 Wizard - your companion will fall down to level 0 and you'll be able to level him up differently from how he was.
Or type ChangeClass Companion_BB_Wizard(Clone)_4 Fighter - and he'll turn into a level 0 fighter instead.
Warning: do not attempt to transition/quit/save game while your character is level 0. You need to level him up first.
Also of note that this console command removes all abilities from a character, including their racial bonus. It will be back though - just level him up, save the game and reload, the racial bonus will reappear.
Another thing to consider is if you get some kind of special ability during the game that isn't accessible during leveling up, you will most likely lose it if you attempt to respec yourself.
Exercise caution with this console command, consider it experimental.

Didn't try it yet but I can see that you can add exp via console command. In some previous Obsidian games it was possible to add negative value to delevel chars and then add the same ammount of exp to level back up. Take a note that every character in your party is affected by this command.

Hey Doxy i just noticed a thing about this part "Also of note that this console command removes all abilities from a character, including their racial bonus. It will be back though - just level him up, save the game and reload, the racial bonus will reappear."

For me, racial bonuses don't appear, i tried reloading several times, i tried transitioning into a different area, still racial don't come back. Any thoughts about it, did i do something wrong ?

I believe it's just vanilla commands. I installed the IE mod last night and played around with the commands. Then went to defiance bay and got the trophy for completing the act.

I do have a question though... Could someone list what the code names for the vanilla companions are? Tried using the find character command to find out but it never displayed anything...
