As the release gets closer Lets try to think more other stuff or my mind is gona blue-screen with the Hype! :geek:

After the last presentation (PAX) I got this feeling that, Obsidian definitely thinking about new(er) IP. They may statting to bring ideas at least, after the first expantion. This Pillars of Eternity is good way to blow the dust of the old forgotten gameplay* but lets not stuck on past too much. There were allready different style of isometric/rpg s around (Fallout, Arcanum...) and I really wish for newer settings. Personally I would love a pirate/Iso/Rpg.

What do you guys think?

or hell with the Isometric. Lets switch to TPS or FPS? but keep the core old spirit in It.

...also If the game sucsess is too high and earns a classical rpg mark. This could be more investment for next game. So we could think bigger as the gameplay, mechanics side but what about setting?

Edit: Can any mod. change this to Obsidian General discussion If not I have to delete It ;( made an emberrising mistake

I'd rather see what the lore and story of Pillars is like before they move onto another IP so quickly. Hopefully it will be worth more games exploring.

Westen plus aliens setting would be awesome.

So...Firefly RPG from Obsidian? Definitely in on that ;)

And all I want is to play Curse of the Crimson Throne or Carrion Crown Adventure Paths made under Obsidian's agreement with Paizo, which was announced last year :)

Cyber- and Steampunk, western, gangsters, one of these or a mixup of sorts. No typical Tolkienic fantasy with swords, magic and elves thanks, sick and tired of that ****.

I require the option of High-school Rom-drama!

Just think of the possibilities of the different classes: Jock, nerd, goth, rich kid, etc...

dont they have that in a way? its almost like south park

there is a way to satisfy most of these needs without having to start a new ip

pillars of eternity 2, set 200 years in the future in a steampunk world with a western feel to it (like wild wild west for example)

pillars of eternity 3, set 500 years after 2. space pirates mixed in a war between the humans, elf, orlan etc with an alien race for control of a planet that does not belong to either of them

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.

What? You thought it was a quote from some well known wise guy from the past?

Stupidity leads to willful ignorance - willful ignorance leads to hope - hope leads to sex - and that is how a new generation of fools is born!

pillars of eternity 4, set 1000 years after 3, where cyber enhanced orlans, with the use of interdimensional travel, try to save earth during alternate history WW2, where goth vampire elfs are collaborating with Hitler and leading crusade against humanity.

The only option for them how to save the Earth is to join forces with rich kid gangster Aumauas and nerd Dwarves, to find Big Magic Sword hidden by Godlikes in Mesozoic history of earth!

I'd also accept a prison rpg.

OZ, the game.

Could be interesting actually. Lots of "factions" of different morals and goals, narrative and reactivity heavy, controversial topics, lots of potential for different skills and stats beyond just combat.

I'd pledge a few bucks for that.

Personally i'd like something unique and original, a weird setting full of unexpected and odd depths.

Realistically if I were Feargus i'd look at perhaps an action RPG in the Poe setting, a short, tight adventure packed with detail and dynamism, perhaps set in the Endless Paths of Od Nua so that assets can be re-used and maybe a bridge formed between the two games. Tweak the rule system, make more unique and animated (but fewer) character models. Use the experience Obsidian gained working on Dark Alliance 2 and Dungeon Siege 3 to make a thrilling, headlong adventurous foray into Poe. Perfect as an introduction to the main game as well.

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

Tea for the teapot!

A loosely Tex Murphy style detective adventure RPG (obviously without live acting).

I'd want to see Obsidian do an WH40K Inquisition (Dark Heresy that is, not Dragon Age like) themed game, but there's no option for that in the poll - so cyberpunk.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken
