Update #69: Pillars of Eternity

I did the fulfillment and it worked smoothly.  I'm just wondering when we'll put in our information regarding things like the tombstone.  I'm using my dad's name and a short message of six or seven words to honor him.  It's important to me that I get it right and that I can visit the area and see it properly in the game.  Will that be handled later by email, or will I have to come to the forum to check these out.  I don't really frequent the forum these days through lack of time.

Hey, you should be able to fill out this information in the survey after you complete your checkout. There is a section for the memorial stone text.

Just wanted to say thank you very much Obsidian for starting the kickstarter in the first place. Was fun the follow the whole process. I'm also glad that I forgot that I had donated until I saw the gameplay video this week.

I use Google Chrome, I right-clicked it and "checked components" (Examine Components = Direct translation from Swedish. The correct option might be called something else, but regardless, it's the option at the bottom). There seems to be some lore-bits~ in case the page is genuine and Obsidians.

 

EDIT: Basically "Show Source" or something like that I think.

I'm not getting the unknown error from Obsidian anymore.....now it just goes to a "the connection was reset" error screen when I try to finalize....which of course it doesn't.

 

That was for FireFox....Internet explorer just says "This page can't e displayed" and kicks me back to step 3.5(finalizing the order) when I refresh.

Thanks for posting it again, haven't read the one on page four. That is a VERY interesting quote....it certainly does make the site seem official, I'd be surprised if it wasn't....the bit of writing in that quote is too good for fan fiction I think.

This was definitely the most exciting update for me - but that's mostly because I could finally become a backer (completely missed the KS due to being blisslessly ignorant of it, and Paypal and I don't get along - thanks for providing alternate payment method )

 

 

 

 

Because giant spiders are awesome.

 

No, they are icky, overused, and usually done all wrong.

 

And, despite that, still awesome. That article is BS by the way, in a sense that you can't do things like that in an RPG like PE, because it would make them too OP compared to other creatures. And some tings just cannot be done because of engine limitations.

 

The article does have some good ideas though - increasing their speed across the ground for example.

I'd like them to have proper creepy sound-effects too for their scuttling.

(I'm a bit arachnophobic but haven't been scared by computer game spiders since Eye of the Beholder - but then they could get behind you *shudder*)

Animations for having them climb up you would be tricky but they could have them drop from the ceiling in front of you (you can't see them until they drop)...

How? -> Backer portal - pledge (when it's working)

What PC? - not a super one - they've said it can run on a 5-year old PC (I think - don't quote me).

(Mine's 7 years old but I'm fairly confident it'll run this - dual-core, 4GB Ram, NVIDIA 9600 GT)

Pretty sure one can't assume that huge spiders would equals smalls only bigger, stronger, faster.

There's a reason insects stopped being huge, and given most of those fantasy worlds are more or less similar to nowadays Earth, their biology would have to obey same rules (not enough oxygen for expanded metabolism). And lets not forget physics - can't imagine something horse sized would climb over ceiling using same principles as the "ordinary" spiders do... It's weight would be to much for friction to keep em up there. At least for smooth ceilings without additional solid gripping points.

Those are things people far smarter than me pointed out, i.e. scientist

 

Sure, one can explain all those issues with magic, but I really hate when this happens because it's just lazy.

 

 

On the more proper note: after the longest day since... well since some unspecific date in not so distant past, I've managed to secure my long awaited tier upgrade. Woohoo for Obsidian for keeping their word (support gave me word on that in march) with style
