Well, glad I wasn't getting the South Park game anyway, heh.

Southpark to Ubisoft:

I'm a bit upset about this.  I really don't want to use Uplay.  Maybe we will get lucky and they will just stick to Steamplay?

Still, I'm very happy it was picked up by a major publisher.  That's good for Obsidian.

?

Just an irrational vendetta I have against that company.  Glad for Relic in any case.

I'm glad Sega bought Relic, it could be much worse. You would think after doing such a good job and making money, enhancing the 40K brand, Sega could secure the 40K license for Relic but lets not kid ourselves, publishers and license owners rarely do things that make sense.

I don't particularly like South Park, but I was probably going to try it at some point, not if its on UPlay.

I wonder if the Xbox 720 and the PS4 will have the same hardware from AMD, that would make it easier for developers with multi-platform, it's hard to see them not using the same hardware if they come out around the same time and the CPU with integrated GPU is from AMD. Why are they choosing AMD when Nvidia seems to be pulling ahead, at least on PC? Microsoft has had a soft spot for AMD but Sony and Nintendo don't. Nvidia has decided to compete with the Sony Vita and Nintendo DS but I doubt they're worried enough to choose AMD over that. It'll be interesting if the Steam Box platform is dominated by Intel and Nvidia.

Eh, you wouldn't have been buying it anyway since it is/was steamworks. Might end up buying it if the steamworks gets nuked since I couldn't care less about Uplay so long as it isn't the always online variety, else won't, but that's status quo ante.

Spare me your trite corporate logic please. There's more to the world than just hire and fire.

Homeworld + Kickstarter is a horrible idea. Homeworld deserves a big budget, decently staffed team and good marketing.

You're right, Homeworld deserves a big budget, decently staffed team and good marketing, as did Arcanum 2, The Black Hound, Jagged Alliance 3 and lots of other titles. Let's just face reality, Homeworld is a type of RTS which died out during the 00s. There's never going to be an AAA Homeworld 3, just like there's never going to be a new AAA Wizardry (or any other game of a type which no longer has mainstream appeal)...

... unless it's a Japanese MMO

There have been plenty of Japanese Wizardry games, not just that MMO.

Yeah, I know. I just picked the MMO because it exemplified "spinoff" in the best way.

You have to be realistic. If you really are interested in South Park RPG, the Uplay is just a necessary evil you have to endure for this one time. One-time activation?

At least Ubisoft sells games worldwide digitally. Sega always refuses to sell anything other than Genesis games in my region, so no Waaagh! for me.

I don't see how not wanting to play it with Uplay isn't realistic, heh.
