I personally think that BGEE is in great shape after the 1.2 patch. I wouldn't ever go back to playing vanilla BG now, but that option still exists for those who wish to do so. So it would be nice if people could behave themselfs.

 

Anyway can't wait for BG2EE coming out this week. Time for another couple playthroughs.

Pocket Plane [Group] classics? What do you have in mind, exactly?  Only PPG mods I'd have installed would be some bits of Unfinished Business, (not all of it, mind you), some of Quest Pack, and...er...Ashes of Embers' weapons component...if it hadn't be superseded by Nythrun's Level 1 NPCs. Honestly, I find a lot more (to like) at Spellhold Studios and the Gibberlings 3.

Ah, yes, that would explain a bit. Personally not a big fan of NPC/romance mods...and actually, the longer and longer it has been since Baldur's Gate (2) was released, the more and more I find all the NPC party members fairly two dimensional as well as extremely annoying. I also tend to build my own parties, (these last few years, anyways), and play with the harder of the SCS components, so that might affect it a little, too.

I wish someone would made non-online game with turn-based combat with Pathfinder Ruleset... All they would need to do is to port some of the awesome Adventure Paths to some Unity based engine, made it DRM free, and I would throw money at them in fat stacks...

I do as well, except an original setting and story. I have a feeling you would be playing a Magus and using spellstrike like a madman.

Haha. no clue. For PnP Pathfinder I prefer roleplaying clown type characters, last time I had Gnome Barbarian with Animal Fury Rage Power, biting every monster in the ass or tail with his secondary attack

 

Have not really studied UC and UM Base Classes and Prestige classes. In computer DnD games, I always played Mages though...

I agree, there's no point in using pathfinder for Baldur's Gate. Apart from the fact that it's a ruleset from a company that competes with the license holder!

Actually there is one big ****ing point for using anything other than DnD ruleset... It's all the ridiculous lawsuits which we had last few years, which prevented Obsidian to make third expansion for NWN2, which was planned for Chult and all other posbile games... I want to play some new RPG game with d20 rules again, not to read another friggin novel about new ATARI vs Hasbro lawsuit...

Well if you go to GOG you can pick up BG and BG2 for $19.98, then use the fixpack, unfinished business, that trilogy mod, several tweak mods, and the widescreen and likely get a similar experience(if slightly superior). Of course, there aren't sorcerer or monk kits and you can't fap to a twilight esquire romance, but I don't care about the former and can always go to a porn site when I want the latter. Or you could be in a Mac and the EEs are the only viable solution to having a stable game, but why the **** would you want to be on a Mac?

The multiplayer matchmaking is working now and it makes it easy to get a session going if that appeals to you. Beamdog also made an arena combat module called the Black Pits which is great for just diving in with other players and killing monsters. The interface, spellbooks and journals are more user-friendly in EE as well. I'm not saying a modded BG series isn't the best option for some people but the EE version is much less hassle (now) and both options have their own unique perks and drawbacks. BG2 will cost about £20 in the UK, which I'd agree is steep, but then again I suppose you can't go much lower without finding it difficult to justify the time and energy than went into EE in the first place.

I use BGT, which lets you play BG and BG2 as a continuous game. I find it nice to go through BG as a Cavalier, smiting everything I see with a greatsword. Perhaps I will try TuTu later.

$25 is steep... if you're from North Korea and aren't allowed to use a PC. Otherwise I look at it as blip--a minor service charge for saving me the time of modding up my copy. Plus there's whatever content they added, of course.
