I'm interested to see more about the Chanters. They looked like a new and different kind of class outside of the standard D&D stuff, and I'm wondering what kind of role they'll take on in the game, both in terms of combat and non-combat mechanics.

Well, they are more or less an equivalent of bards.

Are they? You could easily take that reading, but it seems like they're stretching for something a little bit weirder.

Don't get me wrong. Bard was my favorite D&D3 class. But there's a lot of potential to do something interesting with a class that use "exhortations to the unconscious memory of wayward souls and the diffused spiritual energy of the world."

2.8 will definitely be done by tonight if they count paypal backers which I'm sure they will. The facebook likes are likely to hit 20k by tonight and there will definitely be 57500 backers on Kickstarter. So it looks like an epic update tonight with two stretch goals and two levels for the mega dungeon reached in one day.

I want to see two new companions , not classes :(

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, She got the Mercedes Benz

She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends

How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.

Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

What I want to see is, will we reach the 3.5 million? I think that is asking A LOT, and I think Obsidian knows it. I wonder, wouldn't it be better for them to say get 3.4 million, and not quite get the last stretch goal? Hear me out here. Might barely not reaching 3.5 make the content they will have in the game that much deeper anyways? Is it possible that we would have a higher overall quality game if we don't quite make it to 3.5 but still get close and give them a lot of extra money to throw around on what is already going to be in the game? Just a thought. So what I'm saying is lets keep donating and make this game beautiful (provided your wallet still has tears to shed, in the form of cold hard cash). If we don't make it to 3.5 no biggie, it will still be that much better from our mighty efforts. Squeeze that plastic till it cries for it's mama. And if we do make it above 3.5 million, hey a new big city, I won't complain about that either. If we don't though, I bet you that city will show up in the expansion they are planing anyway. ;)

I think we'll likely see at least one companion of each of the races and classes. In which case new classes = new companions as well.

I think someone - Josh Sawyer? - specifically said that there won't be a 1:1 match between the classes and the characters, and that's part of the reason for the Adventurer's Hall.

Yes, one of Obs guys said something along the lines of they'd rather have fewer extremely well-written companions than a bunch of shallow ones. That's not their words, but that's the sense I got from the comment. I think it's buried in the Q&A lists somewhere, but I'm too lazy to search it out (especially since I can't recall the exact wording).

And CHANTERS! Yeah, baby. Daddy wants his Skald.

I used to love paladins when I was a kid, but now I'm more of a ranger guy.The chanter sounds something I might play if I dived blindly into the first playthrough if they are like bards being jacks of all trades with good social skills. At least may dip into if there is multiclassing.
