$10,000 and 10x Digital copies.

Why so few? Its digital, after all - no loss.

I saw a couple of fan-rpg sites trying to raise funds for a $1,000 - $5,000 reward. Those high level rewards would be perfect for communities and fansites to raise funds, yet obsidian is obviously blind to the issue. They should have planned for this from the start.

Unless Obsidian is offering some sort of delivery themselves, it's probably not actually costless. Depending on their arrangement with the distributors like Steam and so forth, there will still be additional expenditure for them to give out more licenses through whatever distribution service since Steam is unlikely to do it for free.

In the case of pooling money, it seems like everyone involved would have to agree on the reward tier they are going for? If they really need the extra digital copies for their group then I guess they could just add digital copies (3/$60) until they get the number they're looking for?

Obsidian marketing people just failed hard here, that's my point.

Try to remember kickstarter isn't a storefront, it's a donation collection.

So no, they didn't.

Who cares what it is? What it is, is the entire point! And that’s Kickstarter, not a warehouse. You pledge a sum because you want to see this game made, you don’t pay to get copies of the game in bulk.

Think it over: every digital copy you receive you’ll pass on to friends and relatives because you have no use for five PE serial numbers. That’s fine, there’s nothing wrong with that but of course it’s a ‘loss’: those are five or ten copies that go to (otherwise) prospective buyers. To give more free digital copies is economically unfavourable for Obsidian.

Digital, so no loss – really ...

if a site is raising funds for the 10k donation, they dont do it for the copies but for the rest of the rewards and most probably for the party invitation. and those who give for it dont expect copies but a video of the party. if they wanted the copies, they would have just pledged themselves 35 or 50 or 80 to the ks instead of pooling it on some site

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.

What you want to call it is totally irrelevant here.

What is obsidians goal? Raise money. Would it be beneficial to both obsidian and the fansites if they'd provide them with more than enough digital copies? Yes.

Undecided potential backers are more likely to donate if they are encouraged through their community, that's all this really is about. If they could get a copy -and- get a high tier reward for their community, everybody wins.

1. Kickstarter is NOT, I repeat, KICKSTARTER IS NOT A STORE. It is a fund raising platform!

2. If you think 10 licenses is not enough, then simply pledge $10,000 without selecting a tier. You will then receive 500 licenses.

3. I seriously doubt that you are even planning on pledging $10,000 anyway. Anybody who complains about a few licenses most certainly does not have enough cash to pledge so much money.

4. Your trolling is getting way too much attention. ^^

It's a logistics issue. It would make more sense to just raise awareness than to try to divvy up the higher reward tiers. Why would a person throw into a larger pot when they can get a smaller one them self?

Their best bet is probably to communicate with the company PR person.
