if the ps4 is not backwards compatible with the ps1-3 then im not going to buy one for years. seriously, i still play my ps1 and 2 games, and i'll be damned if i have to plug another console into my tv. i'll wait until the ps4 is $200 or less before buying another console that lacks BC.

same goes for microsoft, if they try and sell a non-BC xbox 3 then im not going to buy one for a looooong time. maybe never. pc games now sometimes have drm **** to deal with, but at least i can still play planescape torment without having to switch computers.

Count me in (or out), as well.

I guess I'm not that into backward compatibility (since I still have those systems if I wanted to fire them up again)

But no internet connection means that - if a requirement is to "validate" the game as new even once that I can't ever play the game.

BC for the PS4 is an impossibility, since it's a) too expensive and b) they're gonna ditch the Cell.

Dishonored: creating steampunk beauty

Even should the gameplay be utter garbage, this looks worth playing for setting, atmosphere and art alone. Kinda like with Arx Fatalis.

Interesting to see bullet time in multiplayer.

Arx Fatalis was fine indeed. Hopefully adding Harvey Smith to the mix will produce something even greater. :)

Interesting to see bullet time in multiplayer.

Indeed. Wonder how that works. I love bullet time visually.

I've gradually lost interest in Max Payne 3 .. They aren't playing to the series strengths, it looks like they made the gameplay much better than the previous games, but the story, which was delightfully silly and serious at the same time, now just seems kinda bland.

It'll be like making a Serious Sam game that suddenly deep and emotional with adequate shooting mechanics..

Linear Action games with film-flair were teh awesome back in the late 90s/early 2000, but for today's standard, I think a game like MP3 is completely obsolete. I just don't see the point in this. Bullettime? Booooooring.

Rockstar should stick with the open-world stuff, they're better at that.

Yeah, nobody does linear action games anymore...

They seem to have abandoned the comic book feel of the first 2 games - sad.

I'm not really following, EVERY FPS and TPS I've played in the past 2 years is particularly linear. I don't think there's a one that's an FPS or TPS that hasn't been linear.

Closest you get would be something like the Mass Effects and they aren't really TPS games at all, they're RPGs...

Though ME3 tries REALLY REALLY hard to be a TPS, even has MP, but compared to other shooters, it's not really all that great.

the Mass Effects .... they're RPGs...

if mass effect 3 is an rpg then i think we can definitely consider the rpg genre dead, buried, forgotten, and paved over.

ME3 is an action rpg yet it has more 'rpgness' in it than the BGs and other so called 'full fledge' RPGs. LMAO

Then again, there's a large sect of people who honestly believe dungeonc rawlers like the GB games are the ultimate rpgs. R00fles!

Mass Effect is a terrible squad based shooter, because it's an RPG.

Mass Effect is a terrible RPG because is is a squad based shooter.

That pretty much sums up the entire series.
