Dungeon Siege III Keybinding Patch

Recommended Posts

From the Steam Forums:

Hey all,

The first major patch for Dungeon Siege III has been rolled out today!

We're glad to be able to implement this much-discussed feature to the community, and we hope that you enjoy this update!

In addition, we have also implemented two new controls that will allow the player to move left or right (think strafing). This is also customize-able in the keybinding menu.

Lastly, this patch fixes a couple more issues that have been found by the community:

  • Fixes an issue where the gamepad would default to on, even if you have no gamepad plugged in.
  • Fixed an issue in Multiplayer where if either the host or the client is using a gamepad and are playing with someone who is using the mouse/keyboard, the host hangs when switching to the ending cutscene.
  • Fixed an issue with certain graphic cards where it would occasionally display large black pixels in the middle of the screen.
  • Fixed a potential crash when players try to reconnect after disconnecting during a conversation.
  • We've implemented a fix that will revert the A/D reversed issue for people that are still reporting this issue.
  • Fixed a potential crash when players would join a Multiplayer game in a certain order.

Thanks again for letting us know your feedback, and Happy Looting!

Let me get back to sleeping. I'm tired...

I guess it patched but......

1- I can't see the word Keybindings in the box for it in options, but when i click on the box the keybinding menu comes up.

2- when I apply changes to keybinding and hit apply, it say's saving then loads game with the new keybindings working, after quiting the game and restarting the game i need to redo all keybindings again.... they are not saving.

Without going too deep into it, my gut reaction to those symptoms is (1) could do with a reinstall/repatch or at least Steam verify file integrity, to make sure things didn't screw up; (2) perhaps look in My Documents/My Games/Dungeon Siege III and make sure the keybinding changes are reflected there and that those files aren't set to read-only (or, you could manually change them THEN set them to read-only), so that the game doesn't override your settings with default ones.

I haven't fiddled with DS3 ini files - so I don't know which files control keymapping settings. Anybody?

But verifying file integrity would be the first thing to check.

They don't show up in any of the .ini files. I'd guess it's embedded in one of the EO/GO .opt files. It's possible you could use the config.ini to override them but not sure and I wouldn't know how.

I'd guess it's a glitch/integrity thing too, they're working/sticking fine for me.

Well it's working now, full controls and savability.

I reinstalled my vid drivers, same set I was previously using...

updated video driver version the game did not like (could not see any menu item on game start screen, was like omg)

After running the Steam validating tool 20 times.... it finally found 5 problems, which it fixed.

turned game on and all was working perfectly :p

My feelings about what happened was eighter patch was updated, or steam had problems that they fixed.

Thanks for the help everyone. :p
