I enjoyed it as well, very nice. I've been working on learning Tears for Fears Mad World on my acoustic guitar. I'm still pretty terrible, but I'm finally getting a bit smoother going from chord to chord.

I have no idea how I'm supposed to be able to sing while playing though. That is a mystery. Guess I just need to keep practicing :)

Heh. As a guy who started with a wind instrument, I'm totally with you. The idea that people can successfully be simultaneously responsible for more than 1 melodic line at a time amazes me. I can plunk out chords on a piano (which is just a side-effect of knowing some jazz-based theory), but it falls apart whenever I try to play a melody or a bassline with my other hand at the same time.

Anyhow, yesterday would've been the 95th birthday on one Thelonious Sphere Monk.

Thanks a lot Hurlshot! And yeah, learning an instrument is a lot of hard work, but it's also so much fun. :)

As far as singing and playing goes, yeah... Just practice. One thing you can try is that you just play the chords in a very simple pattern at first (just simple up and down strumming, or even just one downstroke per chord) and try to sing over that.

Practicing with a metronome will also do wonders all around. :)

"Girl" sung by Davy Jones. Sometimes those simple, repeated melodic style songs still hit the spot. I'm still sad he's gone. :p

Next up: "I Think We're Alone Now" via Tommy James & The Shondells

Ahh... I've got so many feel good songs in my mind but any song from Jean Leloup, one of Québec's craziest artist manage to cheer me up by the sheer insanity of his compositions. Note this is in French so be warned. ;)

My Obsidian Order title really belongs to my cat who is cute since day one and she built her attitude around it.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

More shameless self-advertising (maybe I should start a new thread for us home-recording superstars).

Not the best recording here, this song is pretty tricky to play. But I wanted to get it up there, so.... there it is. :)
