So I played Dungeon Siege 1 and Broken World all on the PC back in the day completed them all on normal or better modes

I was sooo happy when I heard 3 was coming, after seeing it was made for consoles I got the X-box 360 Verison.

So I started up a new game playing as Lucas on Casual Mode to get a fill of the game before moving to Normal and Hardcore.

I played through the "Tutorial" Level, killing everything, nothing really hurt me at all.

Now I am Level 2, and just past the first Village of Raven

Equip items you get early on. Use block if you like, never use it myself. Most importantly: Dodge, dodge, dodge. Essential for this game. You could also use Blade Dash to hit several enemies at a time.

So this is not just a button masher game

So long as it is better then Dungeon Hunter Alliance, you get 10 Health Potions, you wake up to a boss, and before you hit the button you are almost dead, was crazy. You end up sucking health potions like a mad man and the mobs level with you, sucks

If you're playing as one of the mages, you can teleport instead of block/dodge, which may be easier for some people to deal with (me). If you're playing melee...I've seen people in vids play the bosses as a button masher, so you can do it...especially on a lower difficulty, but you're going to take a lot of damage/will probably die a lot, so if you play that way, focus on a lot of stamina.

In terms of grinding levels, yes you can. The key there is that once you finish a main-plot questline for a certain area, the enemies for an area disappear (or you can't go back). So if you want to grind, you need to do it before finishing certain aspects of the game. Like, in the first town (the one where there are npc's giving quests), you can save your game at the save point in town, leave town & go outside to kill the clusters of bandits out there, go back to town, save game, leave town again, etc. They respawn each time you leave (especially the uh...southern? gate). However, once you've finished a certain main quest/boss, the bandits go away.

Health wise, the characters are built to have/use healing skills. It's not just about the orbs that fall. When you reach level 2, put your first point into the healing skill. It's a heal-over-time thing, but it works fine. By later game it works so well you may not even need the green orbs at all. Oh and also, normal enemies, if you run away far enough, they'll stop following you. That's how you divide & conquer if you're having some trouble w/a group (won't work on bosses, tho, of course).

Hints 101: think about what equipment you want to use.

Basicly attack increases all damage and will increases all skills powers (attack skills get increased by both). Agility increases crit chance, stamina health, armour is % damage reduction, block is extra protection in block mode BTW these decrease the higher you level (IE for a lvl 1 2 agility might give 10% crit but on a lvl 2 you need 3 agility for 10% crit, see you Charater sheet for crit chance).

BTW remember that your Two Hander is Lucas' AOE stance and his Sword and Shield is single target/boss focused (same applies for skills in the stances), Ideally you want to be using your 2hander and your basic ability "Blade dash" as an opener versus mass should chop down 50%+ of the mob and gets you next to the pesky archers and then 1 hit dead.

Also Dodge Dodge Dodge! As when dodging your invincible.

BTW don't do the main "caves" quest at lvl 2 do the 3 side quests for the folk in raven's rill first.

If you still finding it to hard try one of the other characters (as they all got at lest one ranged stance).

You could probably play it as a button masher, but when I did that I died.

This.

I played Lucas as a straight attack character (i.e. hardly ever used abilities and tried to keep Focus at 100% at all times). I died a lot.

Learned my lesson with Reinhart and as a result am mostly breezing through hardcore with Anjali.

I look forward to replaying Lucas without my head up my ass.

The combat with Lucas is really amazing looking, best in all action RPG.

You open up with blade dash charge, then roll behind ranged attackers and slice them in the back, change stance and quickly kill any stragglers, using shield pummel to stun the mob leader or mini boss and later you use wind shear to slow all enemies and use heroic charge to dash from one to the other, especially later where you have pretty much enemies which are mini-bosses instead of common mobs.

Has there ever been an action RPG where there is actual flanking of your enemy?

Lucas has Wind Shear as a ranged attack and you can take down bosses using that alone.

Early game Wind Shear (Wounding Gale) and Blade Dash (Hemorrhage) are brilliant for taking out slower moving mobs. Later game Heroic Charge (Willful Charge) with Unbridled Wrath (Endless Wrath) is very powerful, particularly if you go high agility and doom you can get some very nice critical hits out of it.
