HBO's Game of Thrones

Also the scene took place in a brothel with two hookers getting it on. I don't think it's humanly possible to craft it in such a way as to not be lewd and entirely 'male perspective'. I suppose a certain level of that stuff is expected from HBO. Probably doesn't hurt the subscription sales either.

Clearly the show meant to be racy and full of sexual innuendo, so it can't come as any surprise. I also don't think it counts as pornography, I mean breasts and strategic cropping for the rest, pretty tame compared to say, Rome.
Yes, exactly, it's not even good as pornography. It's just embarrassing.

Then perhaps you could... not make the scene take place in a brothel with two hookers getting it on?? It's a stupid scene.
I don't post if I don't have anything to say, which I guess makes me better than the rest of your so-called "community." 8)

The sword-learning daughter - I like her.

I don't remember the Starks coming off as quite such idiots in the book, but it was a long time ago. The book made me almost cry re:them - so far the show makes me impatient at their seeming stupidity. Maybe it just comes off that way on-screen vs. the page because of the brevity of the screentime. Sigh, I'm so picky. lol

Except they're trying to have fidelity to the book, and the scene probably took place in a brothel in the book. I think there's one MUCH later in the series where the queen gets it on with one of the other noble ladies after

the king dies

.

And honestly crimson? If I remember my books correctly and analyze them, the Starks have always been idiots. Noble idiots but idiots none the less.

Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition!

Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.

The lesbian whore training scene wasn't in the books.

EDIT: Neither the sex or Littlefinger's monologue.

I am a sucker for like noble tragedy/moral wronged in fiction tho...like Braveheart or Rob Roy, which is why I'm surprised. I mean, Lord Stark having a mercy & moral ethic that gets him in trouble shouldn't feel quite so idiotic, yet it does. I still think it's lack of screentime/chr. development on-screen. And maybe Sean Bean kinda phoning in his performance. And the Snow-Stark actor playing it as kind of a whine-bag. *pickpickpick*

*shrugs* I think Sean Bean is fine. I see stubborness rather than stupidity in the character but mebbe that's because I've not read the books.

As I said, hawt lesbian scenes are a gift from the Great Stallion so no problems there.

Crazy blonde barbarian chick and Ghengis guy are growing on me, her story is very well done. I mentioned it before in the thread but it's worth reiterating, and that's how a lot of non-fantasy fans completely dig this series. Mrs. Monte, for example, loves it.

All in all the cast are great, would love to see more of Peter Dinklage (sp?).

"Your meat is bloody tough."

That's the point where I sighed a little bit, this episode had a few derp moments for me and it feels like they wanted to get a lot of stuff shown in a short time, still enjoying it all though, I rarely get into TV shows these days.

It's actually a line ripped straight from the books. Some things just don't translate well to TV, I guess.

I've been following this guy's reviews of each Game of Thrones episode. It's nice to see a new viewer show so much enthusiasm. I can't wait to see his reactions to episodes 9 and 10. -_-

I just think the way everyone bursts out laughing to diffuse a situation where a guy's fingers get chewed off is a bit forced, nice to know it's in the book though.

The youtube reviewer is worth a watch, I like hearing regular people rant about TV shows for some reason.

Indeed, the scene feels rather forced. It flows more naturally in the book.

I really wish GRRM (he wrote this episode) hadn't cut the exchange between Barristan and the Council short.

"Even now, I could cut through the five of you as easy as a dagger cuts cheese. If you would serve under the Kingslayer, not a one of you is fit to wear the white." He flung his sword at the foot of the Iron Throne. "Here, boy. Melt it down and add it to the others, if you like. It will do you more good than the swords in the hands of these five. Perhaps Lord Stannis will chance to sit on it when he takes your throne."

What a beast.

It really annoyed me when the fencing instructor fellow defeated four guardsmen by banging them on their helmets. I mean, they wouldn't feel a thing from that.

It's like when a fragmentation grenade explodes in a giant ball of fire.

His sword has a lead core (you can kind of see it in the video, and it's apparently explicit in the books), since it's a training sword and thus needs weight. People use blunt weapons against plate armor all the time - a nice cool helmet doesn't do much good if you're smacked with a mace, after all.

The more Starks die, the better. Both in the show and the books.

I hate everyone on the show except Sean Bean, the fencing guy(inigo montoya etc.), old man lannister, the midget and some other guys. I especially loathe the stargate guy who plays the retarded emo-mongol. A lot of actors seem to be cast solely for the purpouse of being as annoying as possible, like the children and those blonde twits.

So why are you watching this series, again? :(

Not that I don't kind of agree with you....altho I still like blonde horse bride (sorry not wiki-ing names yet again) and her guard/aide whatever the heck he is, and the whore-house council dude. He cracks me up. I like Sean Bean too, but I still feel like he's kind of coasting in this one. Maybe I just like him better as a villain.

I think you need to watch this scene again, more closely...

I came up with Crate 3.0 technology.

Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.
