ESRB Rates Dungeon Siege III "T for Teen"

Recommended Posts

Rating Information:

This is an action role-playing game in which players assume the role of a warrior battling to rebuild the royal army of a fallen empire. Players complete quests and use swords, ranged weapons, and magic spells to kill both human and supernatural enemies (e.g., skeletons, goblins, demons, giant wolves). Battles include hack-and-slash combat, highlighted by cries of pain and brief puffs of blood. During the course of the game, players can elect to spare or kill certain boss characters; if players choose the latter, the boss is depicted in a small pool of blood. Some female characters are depicted in the game wearing low-cut outfits that reveal moderate amounts of cleavage; the dialogue also contains some suggestive references (e.g., 'Your mother seduced Montbarron?' and 'We will seduce a foreign man, but only if he is strong . . . clever . . . handsome.'). The words 'whore,' 'damn,' and 'bastard' can be heard in dialogue.

Totally expected this and not that it matters at all. If you look at Dragon Age 2 and it's PEGI 18 rating... All the unnecessary blood, exploding enemies and few short "sex" scenes. I can totally survive without those :)

Hate the living, love the dead.

Obviously a game for the kiddies. Give me an M rated Bioware game anytime, what kind of lame game doesn't let you have gay sex scenes while covered in blood head to toe?

"Some female characters are depicted in the game wearing low-cut outfits that reveal moderate amounts of cleavage"

I wonder how they measure this? Is there an official cleavage-measurer who plays through computer games and takes out the measuring stick everytime he has a close encounter with boobkind?

Percentage of boob shown under 10% = low amounts of cleavagisation, 10-20 = moderate amounts, anything above that = porn.

I think that the publisher gives them a list of the things that could be of interest to them for the rating, they don't go seeking for them too intently.

ratings are overrated, most movies or anime are more mature in content and/or story than what 'M' stands for in Dragon Age 2

but I do hope you were only sarcastic, Bioware is on the downward spiral

I wish the actual "mature" games would finally grow up enough to really be worthy of the 'M', it is better if a game doesn't try to sell itself as something it isn't to begin with

I figure Bioware, being Awesome and all, should automatically get an A rating for any game they make
