Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

The first one was boring, it was decently put together but the story was rubbish* and the gameplay wasnt good enough to sustain any interest. And.... the main character died at the end of the first game, so is this a prequel or some such idiocy?

* Classic official star wars product scenario. Since it counts towards the official canon, nothing that happens in the game can be allowed to contradict or change anything previously established. So you know that no matter how hard you kick vaders ass, he's still going to survive it and die at the end of ROTJ

Fun fact, you're completely wrong. You can in fact kill Vader in the first game and take his place. Two/thirds of the DLC continues along this scenario with Starkiller going on to kill Kenobi and corrupt Luke.

Fine! Im wrong. But could you do that in the original 360 version or was it added in the enhanced edition they released later?

You could do that in the original version. The game had two endings from release. The Sith Edition was mainly a pack-in with the DLC plus a timed exclusive DLC. The DLC continued/expanded the alternate ending.

So anybody played this? The first reviews say Starkiller is a whiney bitch and the story is non-existant.

The Games Radar review is positively glowing. But Joystiq and Game Informer not as much. Game Informer does credit the combat, however.

The part that's worrying me is the claim that the ending is abrupt.

To sum up euro gamer:

"The story is simple, the level designer needs to be replaced again, and force grip is worse than before. Otherwise nothing has changed".

Is anyone really surprised? This seemed like a bad idea the moment they announced it.

Should've made Republic Commando 2 instead.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Maybe a bad idea if you're a negative nancy. The first one was a good game plagued by clunk and poor polish. A sequel that promised to refine it was a terrific idea.

I'm only negative when it comes to LucasArts. I can't remember the last time they made a good decision regarding their games. Fracture was awful, they rushed out KotOR 2, now I think they're spending much more than they should on an MMO that will likely fail (or is that EA?), etc... although I mostly hate them because they never made a sequel to Republic Commando. :p

TFU2 to me seems like it'll either be a game I love and think that the reviewers were to harsh on because I was easily able to get over their problems, or I'll hate for the reason the reviewers talk about

As to LA, anything that has the star wars brand is LA in some way shape or form.

The only thing I anticipate disappointing me is it being too short and having a possible cliffhanger.

yeah, the reports of it being short is the major "hmmmmm" thing for me. I mean... I don't want it to be like Mirrors Edge (short, but amazing until that 19th time you're trying to pull of a jump and can't seem to make it then getting shredded by things), but I also love the feeling of insane powah you got from the first one. Everyone is praising the combat (on of the things eurogamer was ticked about was the fact that QTE's are back to let you do awesome things without having to memorize an 90billion button finishing move), but seem to get hung up on the story and length.

Initial comment.

I purchased the Collector's Edition for PS3. The packaging is crap. It's a plastic box/shell that seems to be made out of a thin version of clamshell packaging. Mine was already torn a bit in shipping and had a dent, too. The adhesive sticker holding the bottom in shape had peeled off taking away paint from the plastic...

It's about double the size of the steelbook case. The extra space is for the paper box the USB mimobot thing comes in. The USB mimobot is actually kind of nice.

The plastic container is not an optional packaging. It's actually the piece that includes the title of the game. As a collector, I can't simply discard it as packaging.

And my steelbook appears to contain scratches.
