Also love the game, but also agree with this. Gadgets are way too offensive. If you max out the sabotage skill, you can hack remotely any turret or any camera, and thats cool. And plus when it comes to stealth, I'm the type of person who just likes to watch the AI patterns and then move when I see an opening, I didn't use gadgets in Splinter Cell games either so it didn't bother me much, but still, game could have had more espionage and less action. Also, if you take cover on a wall next to a door, you get an option of opening the door while you are hugging the wall.

 

Hm, maybe a dlc that adds some fancy gadgets?

you have a gadget to make noise but is very expensive. I'm happy they not copied the same stealth gadgets from other games; that made the AP more challenging when playing Stealth IMO.

More challenging it's not always funny. If you have the possibility to do spectacular thing like... using fireworks to distract the enemy (like in tenchu) it will be funnier than going behind the enemy to perform the K.O. move. They are great but when you have do that more than 25 they are repetitive moves.

Like adding different items for different situations? Instead of the wonderEMP, have lock-cutters or auto-key workers or w/e, one use and its done.

 

Changing the styles of lockable doors would help. I'm sure somewhere there are doors with keycards or retinal scanners or dna tests or stool samples or w/e. A Mission impossible style face maker thingy?

maybe like impossible mision not but there are actor who know the art of being an other person (use false mustache, plastic part of faces, wigs...)

Stool samples? Take a dump in this container, and if the turd is recognized as the turd of an authorized person the door opens. You better not have eaten anything bad! :)

I agree with the original post and the statement that it feels more like a field operative rather than a spy game.

 

I would have loved to see the stealth line attached to specific steath actions or tools rather than the "invisible woman" act. Maybe instead of evasion and shadow operative, the stealth line could have opened action like using swat mirror, fiberoptics or other decoys. it would have made the game even more challenging IMHO.

 

Also true it would have been great to be able to use objects as distractions, hide dispose of bodies and of course aquire disguises.

 

The possibilities included in games like Hitman 47 come to mind instantly. You actually were rewarded for being as discreet as possible and the only way to do this was crazy environment interaction. I still remember fondly the casino contract in hitman when you had to sneak in the cheik room to get his cell number and then seduce a drunken gambler to get the best sniping vantage point!

Until you consider that it is an espionage rpg which has little to do with espionage and much more field work :p

You can be a spy in the field and do espionage? At least in my opinion you can.

 

It's espionage in the vein of James Bond ... It's cinematic espionage. Gather intel, figure out what the bad guy is up to, stop the bad guy from getting the girl.. or wait.. something along those lines ;)

Real espionage is akin to digging through a pile of **** and trying to find a diamond; pretty much what Parker does. Many people would find that boring, hence the emphasis on field work. At least that's how I see it. As for reptitive (sp?) takedowns... there are only a handful of ways to KO/Kill and enemy without making a ****load of noise, so being reptitive (sp?) is unavoidable.

I was referring to hand-to-hand combat, but a suppressed pistol is a must, IMO. Even when not running a stealth build, a suppressed pistol is a useful thing to have. Your milage may vary, however.
