Impossible Boss (Brayko & Omen Deng) on Hard Difficulty. I'm incapable or stupid?

Recommended Posts

(sorry for my poor english)

Hi!! I have completed almost all the missions, but Brayko e Omen Dem seems to me impossibile. I'm level 15 in Hard difficuty, and I have upgraded pistol, stealth and martial arts. I've tried several times, but nothing. Am i stupid or what? Any suggestion? Or I have to start all over again in easy or normal mode?

With pistol and martial arts they should both be possible on hard, they are the skills I used.

First thing I did with Oman was stealth, get up close to him and start punching. Brayko, you have to run when he gets close, turn and use your pistol skill (Forgot the name) and aim for his head while he is panting. Use stealth to hide when you are in trouble.

For Brayko:

I used pistol skills only

Run to the back cover and once he's clear use chainshot as much on his head as possible(with upgraded bullets too if you have those).

Then he will run down and try to attack you, try to run up to the stage and jump down and run back to rear cover again. If you need to, there is health on both sides of the level. Just keep running around until you get chainshot back up, it only took me 2 chainshots to kill him.

For Omen:

This guy was harder than Brayko because he "stealths" up to you

Basically I just ran around chainshotting and punching him as much as possible

Thanks to all! I've alredy tried your suggestions...but nothing. I've hit Brayko "five time" with chainshots...he seems to be superman...

"Don't forget to use better ammo". Exactly what ammo?

PS

But if i start the game again in easy/normal mode mode, this change the dialogue and story options? For me AP is a great game, but i confess that i've buy the game primarly for the Chris Avellone's narrative skills...

It's a great idea to do some shadow operative while waiting for chainshot to recharge. If you've got some AP, buy the technical skill that instantly recharges all your skills. With it, you just have to do a chainshot, hide with shadow operative for a while and when you're "safe" behind cover you can just recharge chainshot. You beat endgame bosses so easily this way it feels cheap. Oh and like hittomas said, Steel Core rounds works marvels. Dispatch the mobs with grenades and focus your pistol fire on Brayko/Deng. You want to take them down as soon as possible because medkits take long to recharge and using the medicine cabinets usually involve getting out of cover.

Also get the "Poisoned Cocaine" Intel from Heck if you've done Tapai before Moscow.. that's always useful.

If everything else fails, bug his AI.

Get him gun range - so he won't pull out his knife - and get a column or any other high, cover-like object between you and him. Do not engae cover actually, just postion yourself so there is a high object between the two of you. If you sidestep carefully, you can get him in your aim (especially if you have a backup AR), and well... you can shoot him to pieces without much trouble. The AI will see that you're behind an obstacle, so he'll blind fire and only occasional bullets will hit you.

Ok, that's cheating.

I had the same build on hard, so here's what I did:

for Brayko, shoot him, always with critical strikes, preferrably in the head. When he engages close combat, fight him (you'll take some heavy manage, so if you have no points in Toughness, we'll skip this point), and don't forget about

sending six little critcical-hit-bullets in the head - he has a moment of rest every now and then, that's the time for running away (preferrably behind an obstacle for winnign some some time as he has to find his way around it), and sending some bullets -critical, of course-. Repeat, enjoy. If you have no toughness, just keep your distance at any cost.

As for Omen Deng, well, he's a tough bastard, but the two of you are alike. So hide, strike, and hide again if you can. Just don't get hit by his shotgun, avoid it even for the cost of a skill CD.

In both situations, grenades help, a lot. Kill it, kill it with fire!

I had a stealth/pistols/assault rifles/martial arts build and basically I chain shot'd Deng and then went into Shadow Op mode. Got close to him and use Iron Will and Fury and just Melee'd him til he died.

I had trouble with Brayko too, since he was the first boss I took on. I was too low level to have any really good skills and my chain shot was only at two.

Here's what I did. I stayed in the cover you start in while he's on the stage. This part is pretty easy. When you knock down his armour, he starts running back and forth between the speakers. Take your time to just chip away his health at this point. Watch the damage you are taking and don't be afraid to just sit in cover and let your armour regenerate. Once you take off about a quarter of his health, he 'sniff an angel's ass' and come jumping down off the stage.

Now, on PC with the erratic mouse, I was unable to run away from him as my camera would swing wildly like a drunken sailor at high seas during a hurricane. So, instead, I would duck behind the nearby pillars, activate Shadow Operative, and sneak into the side barricades in the room. Here, I waited for Shadow Operative to recharge or until Brayko had his back turned to climb the stage.

I set shock traps on either speaker (this is important) and moved between the two so I could continue to snipe away his health. When he snorts again, he'll teleport beside you but this won't be a problem with the traps as he will then be stunned. Unload more bullets into his head and bail from the stage. He should be really low now that one more Chain Shot and a few assault rifle rounds will bring him down. He'll constantly be charging you with the knife, but seems to get tired and falls pretty quickly.

Note - not sure if this was a bug, but if you stealth when Brayko initially leaps off the stage, the goons never seem to spawn. This is a blessing if you're ill-prepared or low level on hard mode.

I found the Brayko fight to be quite enjoyable since it was so difficult. Omen Deng I was much stronger for and basically hid behind a pillar until he was close, jumped out and did a melee combo followed by an upgraded Chain Shot to the head to bring him down.

Once Brayko huffs his cocaine he goes into a near invincible state. The trick is to run around the central table until he tires out and falls to his knees. Then run up and blast him in the head/karate him to do major damage. I had a ton of trouble with this fight until I figured that strategy out.

Just tried him on Veteran, Hard, with Heck's spiked cocaine. He is brutal on hard - the knife hits seem to take something like 30-40 health down, and possibly even more of your armor, and he can land anywehre between 2 and 4 hits if he gets you. You have to be fast in getting away and have first aid kits.

But after a couple of reloads I worked out a way to get to him using my char (Assault Rifles, Sabotage, Stealth). Incendiary Grenade + Focused Aim with AR's APDS ammo is quite effective at burning his health down and giving him enough knockback so he can't rush you easily. I did this to get to the cutscene, used stealth operative, got behind him, lobbed an incendiary grenade to kill hsi armour then blasted him. Got him down to nearly zero health, which is when he begins to shoot again - so he didn't even call for his guards.

Also, third playthrough, reactivity in this game is freaking amazing. I really encourage you to go and play a Thornton with a totally different personality and make different decisions. The unfolding of a crucial mission in Taipei changed because of my high sabotage skill (

the info hacking

), my Omen Deng dialogue was almost completely different because I had near-100% dossier, I decided to headslam Grigori and

ended up shooting Surkov in the kneecap

, I let Brayko live and

he ended up knifing Championchik and Surkov to hell

. None of which happened in previous 2 walkthroughs. -_-

Finally, the disco in the safehouse. YES.

Wow, how did you manage to beat Brayko but without him getting caught and being able to get revenge on Surkov?

I was gonna do Psycho Mike this time but i'm too tempted to go Recruit on all options and it kinda breaks him out of character. I suppose there'll be four playthroughs... I'm never gonna get any work done :sorcerer:

When I defeated brakayo without pistol specialisation I used the time's when he was out of reach to take care of the spawning guards (grenades and assult rifle). When he start chase you run and time how long time it takes for him to give up the chase (I counted to 20). After that there is a small window when he catches his breath where you can unload with prefered attack style before he escapes on the balcony again. After A couple of rounds like this the guards will stop spawning and he will never escape to the balcony again the periods between him chasining you will get smaller, but just use the same tacticts.

Against omen deng I didn't do anything special, just used all skills available and some first aid kit's.
