smokey
This has probably been asked and answered before but the forum search function doesn't seem to be working and I don't feel like sifting through the forums manually, so my apologies, but I've read up on this game I'm not that impressed but I like a few of the ideas behind it all and as always I never trust a game made by obsidian (sorry if that offends anyone) but to be blunt I've decided that whether I buy this game or not comes down to whether it has a new game plus type option or not I'm not a fan of going through the same "progression" over and over again and I don't like building up skills just to have them taken away from me and quite frankly I don't think this game is going to be worth 60 bucks if I have to start from square one every single playthrough
WorstUsernameEver
IIRC there's no New Game + option but there is an unlockable Veteran modality where your character starts already with a good deal of skill points and has new dialogue options. Not sure if this satisfies you.
Sannom
No "New Game+" mode, but if you finish the game in the Recruit mode, you unlock the Veteran mode, which makes your character good at everything from the beginning, something that the other characters acknowledge. But there is no "replay your game with all your equipment and experience" mode.
Tigranes
I'm not a fan of going through the same "progression" over and over again and I don't like building up skills just to have them taken away from me  Sounds like you are looking for a MMO or Diablo-type game?  Veteran mode lets you play a new game with a new character but with additional skills, and characters in the game will refer to the fact that you're a hardened veteran, giving a difrernet experience. smokey
That doesn't sound too bad I'll probably get it now (but I'm holding onto the receipt just in case) and no I kind of despise MMO's just seems like a waste of time when I build up my skills just to build them up again..... and again, anyways thanks for the quick replies

Raithe
As I recall, you can't exactly master every skill in one gameplay.. and part of replaying is to choose different skill sets as you play through, changing the game play as well as the choices you make within the plot... Â Sure it can be fun to play through from the start with some bonus type things from having completed the game before, but eh, that's not what replay value is all about. It's about having a new experience within the game, not the same old expereince just with better skills from the start... Â So far the word is that there's roughly 20-30 hours of gameplay to go through the game once... And that there's about 12 hours of cinematics, of which in a single play through you'll probably see about a third of.. So to explore the game fully, you'll need what, to play it through at least three times in extremely different ways.. and spend about 50-60 hours playing it? That's not even counting the idle curiousity of mixing/matching choices to see how different combinations might have some effect on the story and the fun of seeing just how you manage to make friends/enemies... Â Value for money, pretty much any game that lets you play 20+ hours for the same cost as a couple of evenings at the pub with friends seem good to me. Joseph Bulock
Recruit mode. Â The fun thing about both the recruit and veteran modes is that that's where we got to put a lot of what you could think of as our "director's cut" content for the cinematic sequences. The lines or the animation that was a little too over the top or came too close to the 4th wall only has a chance of showing up for veteran players, and recruits have some very solidly funny lines that reference their total lack of experience. mr insomniac
I don't usually play RPGs above normal difficulty, but I did Tali's recruit mission in ME2 on hard, in order to get the Geth Pulse Rifle. This was after playing through the game a couple of times, so I had a good idea of what to expect. I thought it was pretty intense. I wanted more. Went to the Collector ship and got my ass kicked. Â Wonder how AP will compare... and no I'm trying to make ME2/AP parallels, it's just my personal experience with higher difficulty levels. L4D isn't a RPG so I guess it doesn't count, but I managed to live through 5 to 10 minutes of a singleplayer 'No Mercy' campaign on hard difficulty. Francis, Zoey and Louis aren't too bright in SP mode though; more hindrance than help. I took this job because I thought you were just a legend. Just a story. A story to scare little kids. But you're the real deal. The demon who dares to challenge God. So what the hell do you want? Don't seem to me like you're out to make this stinkin' world a better place. Why you gotta kill all my men? Why you gotta kill me? Nothing personal. It's just revenge.
Hassat Hunter
Eh, replaying ME1 on unlocked higher difficulty, and it's easier than Vetern.  Actually knowing now what I am doing helps, but also the +20% HP, shields and XP you get awarded in your first playthrought. Not so much for "higher difficulty" if bonusses are bigger than the increase in opponent strength. ^   I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. Fallen Ghost
I'll definitely be hunting for all the extra content in the game and I never shy away from difficulty. I beat some of the most insanely hard games on the PS2 which still stomp anything released on next gen consoles so far in terms of difficulty alone. Quality wise the 360 owns the RPG field so that's where I'm at now. Now in terms of which mode I'll enjoy most it largely depends on the content and how the dialogue and story play out. FAIL!  If you don't rectify this, (which i presume you won't), then i will destroy this game on my road, and remove it's stupidness from the game world from infecting any more consoles.  seriously man, wtf! were you THINKING~! Â listen troll, idk if you work for obsidian, but apparently, there's a group of ppl there with their heads up their own, or someone else's asses. Â and moderators are supposed to be non-bias, and neutral, you sir, in the 3 posts i've seen, have been rabidly accusitory of people who have expressed their problems, qualms, and general complaints about the game. If this was my website you were moderating, i'd find a new moderator. Â Moderators like you, could take people like me, who are consumers of an obsidian product, and learn from the complaints, and drive them away from giving valuable insight to obsidian. Improving and studying the effects of a product so as to make it better in the future ... most companies do this, its called After-Market Research. Â But a moderator such as yourself, is going to be bad for the company, because you will undoubtedly piss someone off, who came to this site just to vent their frustration with a game they looked forward to, which was DELAYED, and DELAYED again, iirc. Â Whatever, i'm not gonna be in the forums long, i just had to say my peace, and i hope more ppl do the same. Â What a failure. you can try to JUSTIFY it all you want, and try to DENY it, but time will tell. this will be a game easily forgotten, when it COULD have been another Mass Effect, sorry but that's FAIL~! Tigranes
I have no affiliations with Obsidian, mate. I find it quite interesting that you think it's justified for you to rant and rave and insult and generally act obnoxiously, but then think that other people should take you politely / seriously. If you want to debate your points in another way, we can do that. Or you might leave now, having been satisfied. unskilled-
A few of the veteran dialogue choices are essentially Mike saying "I'm a badass, I saved the world once and I don't take **** from nobody, ESPECIALLY you Darcy!" I paraphrased a bit so don't take it as GOSPEL!~~~~~~~~ (this is the proper way to do it circa 1998)
