I played a bit of FFXIII on the 360 and it was pretty ba your average Final Fantasy experience. Move forward in a very tight corridor; close your eyes and hold A when attacked.

I cheated a bit in Bioshock 2 and got 9999 Adam. This literally removed at least 4 hours of gameplay from the game, even when I went out of my way to get nearly all the audio logs and all the Power to the People stations. I beat the entire game in one sitting and a food break.

So, the good:

-Combat is better. The weapons are a lot of fun and the upgrades on each of them just make them even crazier. There are a lot of gene tonics that alter how you play. For example, try Handyman to repair bots + Deadly Machines + Hardy Machines + Security Command 3 . Or Drill Specialist (which restricts your weapons to only the drill but boosts your plasmids) plus all the eve saver tonics, drill vampire and drill power tonics. You can charge up Cyclone Trap with other plasmids and this works very well. Even the bees are deadlier this time around, since the plasmids don't just have better damage as they level up but also different effects. Unfortunately, this same combat sometimes becomes a literal cluster**** of plasmids and gunfire and only a few abilities allow you decent crowd control.

-Research is a LOT better. You don't have to constantly use the camera while you're defenseless, but actually start filming and then attack. The more original and diverse your attacks are, the more you score.

-Gil Alexander/Alex the Great is probably the best character in the game, Sofia Lamb isn't too bad and Grace is also a well done character.

-The Little Sisters say awesome things when you have them on your back.

-Choices have more consequences this time around. I won't spoil anything, but it's not just about harvesting little sisters or saving them to turn into either Mr. Goody Two Shoes or Robo-Hitler-with-a-drill.

The bad:

-Like I said, the combat is a bit chaotic, and it also gets old very fast unless you start getting creative. If you bother to harvest all the corpses you can, you'll be sick of it by the end of the game.

-Some of the characters are just bad, especially Eleanor. She's the most important character in the game, but she's also terribly written and sometimes annoying. Father Wales is just a religious freak, nothing new about this. As for Sofia Lamb, she might be passable, but she's no Andrew Ryan. She's not as well written, definitely not as deep since she's essentially just a mad scientist with a crazy plan that can't possibly work and is also completely useless. While Ryan had some reasoning behind him and you could clearly see the man started with great ideas that just didn't work out, Lamb is just some manipulative mad woman. Also Ryan's voice actor was great while Lamb's isn't.

-The graphics... they're the same. Oh sure, it's pretty, but you'd think they'd do something new.

-Rapture as a setting is getting old real quick. It has an insane amount of leaks and one can only see so many slums before getting tired of it. We barely get a glimpse of the old Rapture, which really is a shame.

-You get to play as a Big Daddy. This basically means your character has no soul and is barely more interesting or deep than a robot. You even get to move just as fast and still have your free will. I don't know why they even bothered with this.

Basically, this isn't much of a sequel. Maybe more of an expansion pack, but even then the story is just tacked on. Yahtzee put it best - BioShock 1 is better on its own and does not need a sequel. I haven't tried the multiplayer but I doubt anyone is even playing. Doesn't look that great either.

Rental at best. I give it 8 puppies out of 2 Big Daddy drills.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

I decided to pick up Storm of Zehir so I'll try that for a little while.

Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.

Started playing God of War III today so I guess I'll be stuck in Greece for the next few days. The gameplay feels a bit outdated since it's exactly like it was in the God of War II. However, it looks amazing, I sometimes can't believe that everything I see is actually in real-time. There are no loading times, which is quite impressive considering what we see on the screen... huge titans climbing Mount Olympus, and all close-up shots of Kratos reveal staggering details in the character models. Plan on playing God of War II again after I finish God of War III, and if I'm up for it I might replay GoW3 on a higher difficulty.

MAG will come somewhere in between. Just recently started playing and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Just about any time after 5:30 (Pacific Time), because after that I have nothing to do.

Checked out the Just Cause 2 demo. The mouse movement was rather jumpy and it was hard to aim precisely which ended up more than a little frustrating. The game itself had a lot of interesting ways of moving around and blowing things up but that's all it really seemed to offer. At the end of the 30 minutes I was already starting to feel a little bored with the game.

Just got the RUSE open beta off Steam so I'll be looking at that next.

Got to chapter 10 in FFXIII, finally unlocked the full party and being able to switch characters around. I can see why some people would be disappointed with the linearity and lack of exploration and typical FF storyline, but it has one of my favorite RPG combat systems in recent years. Really fast-paced, while remaining very tactical - paradigm shifts are a real treat. Good stuff.

Finished Drakensang: tRoT yesterday. Will replay as an Elf or mage... there were a few instances in the game where I really wish I could've hurled a fireball or use the paralysis spell, which Elves can't learn.

Not to mention unlike the first game, NPCs will react differently depending on class/race of the PC - so there's a lot of replay value. Even playing as a thief/rogue is worth it now, since there are many instances during the main quest where violence can either be minimized or completely avoided using sneaking, thieving & social talents.

Still ME2, just started a new run as an adept. Biotic powers are fun so far. Hope I still feel the same way about them later.

It's just about time to get back into DA:O, since gamestop shipped out my copy of Awakening today, and I want to do a complete game from start to finish. I'm just not ready to take the science out of the fantasy yet.

I took this job because I thought you were just a legend. Just a story. A story to scare little kids. But you're the real deal. The demon who dares to challenge God.

So what the hell do you want? Don't seem to me like you're out to make this stinkin' world a better place. Why you gotta kill all my men? Why you gotta kill me?

Nothing personal. It's just revenge.

Got to chapter 4 in FFXIII.

I have been playing a lot of RPGs lately that have been about YOU saving the world, YOU deciding whether you should kill the puppy/kid/cute thing or not, YOU getting the phat l00t and YOU deciding whether the world should burn or not. It has been YOUR story in YOUR own little sandbox world.

FFXIII simply says "F*** YOU and F**** YOUR stories, you egoistical, pathetic little twit. No one is here for YOU". How about allowing you to witness OUR journey where we make OUR decisions, based OUR moralities?!"

I really welcome this change of story progression and control. The combat system is really nice as well, you get severly penalized if you do not use of the Paradigm shifting. A bit linear so far, but that's about it. Love the characters, music, art and graphics(duh!) so far.

That's one of the reasons i love FF franchise so much, it's so much different from average western RPG cliche where you are the only one who can save the universe...

but yes i would miss the games like IWD, Torment, BG, Drakensang, Witcher, Fallout, ToEE if I never played them...
