... what are the other options?

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Oh my :w00t: It looks those below-than-avarage covers of '80s D&D-books.

"Some men see things as they are and say why?"
"I dream things that never were and say why not?"
- George Bernard Shaw

"Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."
- Friedrich Nietzsche

"The amount of energy necessary to refute bull**** is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it."

I see Jack McGenericFace is the main protagonist, as usual.

IIRC they effectively have to call it Gothic 4 as Piranha Bytes still owns the IP and JW's rights to it consisted of making an expansion for G3, and a sequel and then it all goes back to PB. The Arcania thing is to try and decouple it from the Gothic name (and hence ultimate control by PB) so they can make another sequel if they want.

A while ago I heard it was going to be called Arcania: A Gothic Tale in North America and Gothic 4: Arcania in Europe (since Gothic is a fairly successful series in Europe but not NA). That might have changed now though.

I have a question, folks.

What if I want to buy Final Fantasy VII on PSN for my PS3, how will it look on a 22' TFT monitor? Pixel mash, or is it playable?

on 22'' monitor it should be fine, but dont crucify me if you dont think it's ok... i even played FFVI on 42'' LCD TV and had no problem with graphics... different people different tastes...

Hmm, okay, another question.

Just figured out that they also have FF8 on PSN. Is that one better? Everyone says FF7 and 8 are the best out there. I can't quite decide.

Final Fantasy 8 has actually quite a large hatedom and for good reasons : the combat system is broken (IMHO ofc), the plot feels confused and I think throw too many unneeded twists instead of building a good villain and the relationship between the two leads (Squall and Rinoa) is incredibly forced and cheesy.

It had quite high production values for the time though and was fun to play.

my personal oppinion... from PS1 Final Fantasies VII is best VIII is worst... IX is in the middle

From me the plot of FFVIII looked more linear than VII, but that's my subjective view on the matter... There is one more thing you have to take into the account, FFVII materia system is very different to the FFVIII draw system, and many people who play VII as a first game are dissapointed from VIII system, because imo materia system is superior, so if you are thinking about purchasing both games at some point (and imo, you should get them both :ermm:), i would recommend you to purchase FFVIII as a first game... You might get better into the Draw system that way :)

ask more people about it before your final decission but keep in mind FFVII has most fanboys and haters from all the games ever created :p so judge their words carefuly :p

It should be noted that some people swear by the awesomeness of VIII and hate VII. And that VII did create most of the public perceptions of the Final Fantasy series in general (Spikey haired emo protagonists etc).

To be honest I still haven't played Final Fantasy 7 (read a Let's Play some times ago, but that's not exactly 'playing' the game), so going with the whole 'Final Fantasy VII is the reason people think FFVIII sucked' is a bit unfair.

Yeah, there's no doubt some people went into the new game with that kind of perception but a lot of people actually have legitimate issues with the game.

i think i mentioned it was mine own oppinion :ermm: now when i have replayed FFVIII after 8 years i played it right after VI and before VII and i pretty much appreciated it, i just still hate the Draw system -_- my 1st playthrough i was very dissapointed now after 8 years i aprecciated it a lot more :p

same happened to me with FFXII btw, 1st playthrough was boring, 2nd playthrough i liked the game... and i realy dunno why O.o

I wasn't saying that "VII is the reason VIII sucked" or anything. But rather, that just the way there is a fan base behind VII saying that it rules and VIII sucks, there is a similar (but significantly smaller) one behind VIII. Spoony has a couple hour long lets play where he basically goes over the overall idiocy of the plot in general and the battle system

http://spoonyexperiment.com/

He's doing one for X (which is personally my second favorite) but he only has the first bit up. They're both fairly good games, but VIII probably has more problems with it overall.

While X's plot too had some rather incomprehensible pieces (made worse by my fuzzy memory) I found the gameplay genuinely fun, the setting was really good too, the visual presentation and music were perfect and even the mini games were great fun.

I heard a lot of people complaining about it, but can't really see why.

Some rumoured info about the 40k MMO

Features:

- Focus both on Melee and Long range Combat

- covering system

- 29 Zones (21 claimable, 8 invadeable)

- Open-World

- PvP around resource gathering and taking strategic points

- center zone features a conquerable stronghold

- No playable Tanks or other Warmachines at release but implemented possibility for expansion

- Tyranids as full fighting PvE-Faction

Lore (being discussed concerning certain faction-plots at the moment but here are the things we determined with Games Workshop so far):

- Game takes place in the southern border-sectors of Segmentum Tempestus

- Factions fight over a destroyed imperial forge world called Tarelis and its hive-city Cerberus X (newly added to the lore!)

- The story of the game will NOT take place in a parallel universe! Just like the Planet Kronus (made by our colleagues at relic) Tarelis will be part of the lore!

- Tyranids will be main-antagonists

- Unfortunately Vigil-games was not allowed to use Relics Gorgutz 'Ead 'Unter as Ork Warlord as he will make a final appearance in the second DoW2 expansion

Some rumoured info about the 40k MMO

Features:

- Focus both on Melee and Long range Combat No ****?

- covering system Great, now it'd be good to know how the combat system is supposed to work.

- 29 Zones (21 claimable, 8 invadeable) That's good..I guess?

- Open-World

- PvP around resource gathering and taking strategic points

- center zone features a conquerable stronghold

- No playable Tanks or other Warmachines at release but implemented possibility for expansion

- Tyranids as full fighting PvE-Faction You mean full fighting as in they don't just stand around like retards? Then again, Tyranids can justify it.

40k MMO? Hubba hubba.

Although can we PLEASE go with a slightly less gokking WoW feel than usual. 40k used to be famous for beautiful and disturbing artwork.

Apparently it's aiming for T/PEGI-16 rating, hm. Kind of a shame it's only one planet, would be nice if it were a subsector of 3-4 worlds. Hearing about a cover system makes me imagine some sort of massively multiplayer Gears of War though, for some reason. More info will come out about it at E3 (next month ?)
