I can't believe people still feel this game is worth discussing. There really must be something in Maria's assessment of the Bio game cycle.

Just to be clear, Squaddies have perfect accuracy, right? So buying the "Assault Rifle Accuracy" upgrade has no effect if you're playing a Shep who can't use ARs?
Not perfect, but at least consistently good -- from what I've seen, their aiming isn't affected by difficulty, unlike the enemy's.

The AR accuracy upgrade deals with the dispersion present in rifles. That means that squaddies using the Vindicator wouldn't see much of an improvement, but if you have any using the Avenger, they'd work better.

I meant she worships him a lot.
And interestingly, her loyalty mission is one of only two where a disagreement with Shep (as opposed to simple incompetence) can result in him not earning that character's loyalty. Infatuation/admiration? You bet. Worship? Not so much.

The other character that displays this unthinkable independence is... Zaeed.

Can't help you with that mate. So... lower your expectations? That works well in other areas of life, where the alternative isn't really an option...

Christ, Boo with low expectations? What kind of perverse abomination that would be? I would go to Serbia to smack some sense into him myself if he would be corrupted by the stupid side of the force.

I have... But its still hard to believe we can't get at least one groundbreaking PC game a year. Either I've been eaten by nostagia or 98/99-02 was the time to be a PC gamer. After that the good stuff 's soooo far and few inbetween.

It's just these things, like human colonies go *poof* and everybody just shrugs

I like the game, but I just can't squint enough.

I always took the bit in the first game where the council basically downplays the attack on Eden Prime (before you get Tali's info on Saren) by saying something to the effect of humanity was colonizing dangerous places as implying that the council wasn't going to waste their time with these colonies if something bad happened.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Which seems to be standard council procedure for anything that happens outside of council space.

I took this job because I thought you were just a legend. Just a story. A story to scare little kids. But you're the real deal. The demon who dares to challenge God.

So what the hell do you want? Don't seem to me like you're out to make this stinkin' world a better place. Why you gotta kill all my men? Why you gotta kill me?

Nothing personal. It's just revenge.

That's why the most satisfying part of a Paragon playthrough is tell the Council to shove it.

I wonder if this will have some consequences in ME3, like random encounters with Spectre agents trying to eliminate 'rogue' Shepard. *chuckles*

That might be pretty cool, maybe as a subplot.

Apparently Bio plans to make ME 3 combat more RPG-ish.

If that means going back to ME1 style, where it takes 20h of gameplay before you can actually hit something with assault rifles, then :sorcerer:

Players of the original Mass Effect had a big impact on the story of the second, if they imported their character save from the first game. BioWare imported some 700 player choices and associated plot points into Mass Effect 2.

BioWare lead cinematic designer Armando Troisi said during today's Mass Effect 2 Game Developers Conference session that it was "the small things" that mattered when carrying over player data from the original Xbox 360 and PC sci-fi role-playing game.

700 huh? Too bad 99% of them gave only e-mails and announcements.

Well, I finished my first run with my soldier. Overall I enjoyed the game very much, and was able to save my entire team. It was still a pretty costly victory, considering that I also lost half my crew. I thought I'd saved

Yeoman Chambers because she was alive when I found her and supposedly all the survivors also survived being escorted back to the ship, but when credits rolled and I was back on the bridge, she was nowhere to be found. Who's going to feed my fish now, huh?

I got mildly proficient at the combat system, but I must confess I didn't like it much. Running out of bullets in the middle of big battles was not much fun. Yes, I know if I were a better shot I wouldn't run out of ammo so fast. Bite me. :sorcerer: The wild, frenetic shoot-and-hunt-ammo, take-cover-or-die thing was mostly just annoying to me, and I don't find constantly dying and reloading to be particularly enjoyable. I really, really hate those long, drawn-out battles that don't allow you to save for the entire mission... such as during the endgame. When I finished the final FINAL battle, I had two bullets left in my entire arsenal. If that thing hadn't dropped then, I'd have had another grueling 45 minute replay ahead of me. If I want to play Call of Duty, I'll buy it, thanks.

The story kept my interest for the most part, but I'm still kinda scratching my head at the end. It... didn't make sense to me. The

Collectors are Protheans

reveal left a bad taste. Again, seemed nonsensical. Took everything learned in ME1 and threw it out the window.

And what's with gaining Renagade points just for helping Liara?? Bah. And yes, Jacob was just as dull in bed as I expected him to be. From now on, I'll just leave Kaidan's picture on my desk and forget all the drama-rama. Besides, FemShep sounds like a (cheap, loose woman) when she's seducing the guy. Made me cringe.

On the plus side, they did a great job of creating varied, interesting recruitment/loyalty quests... and the N7 sidequests also had some interesting variety, since not all of them involved taking a team and shooting the place up. The two hacking games were a vast improvement over the hair-pulling hacks from ME1. I hated them. I also enjoyed ME2's research and build system. Quite fun, and since I was able to speed-mine planets to pick up the richest stuff, I never ran out of resources.

I wish I'd have already finished one run-through when y'all were discussing the endgame. It didn't make much sense to me at the time, and now I can't really recall enough of the conversation to add anything interesting. I just came away confused by the plot twists, and sad to have lost so many of my crew when I thought I'd done everything right. Did anyone actually get a level 30 character? I swear, I did every conceivable quest and only made it to level 28.

Overall, a very good game, although I did enjoy the story and characters in ME1 more... the ME1 endgame sequence was by far the most exciting of any game I've ever played. Always made my heart race and want to cheer when Joker takes on Sovereign. Joker is the best part of both games! Love that guy.

Time to try a different class...

Think this depends on how many missions you do

after you retrieve the IFF from the derelict reaper

. IIRC, in order to save the whole crew you can do one, then you gotta go.

during that final battle, you can save the game at two points.

part one is when you separate into two teams, and send tali or whoever crawling through the ducts. part two is when your biotic specialist creates that shield around you.

. You can save after each of those points, but after that, yeah, you're on your own.

I felt just the opposite. I thought the big reveal was kinda interesting, especially the way Mordin explains it.

Liara's doing some not very nice things, heh. What did you think of her personality change? I thought, "holy crap"

It's difficult to do in your first playthrough -- I think you need to import a level 60 character from ME1 to be able to hit 30 first time around.

Beating the game unlocks an achievement that increases XP gain by 25%, so it should be easier in subsequent playthroughs.

But if you import that lvl 60 me1 character, it's really easy. I had a bunch of n7 quests left over when I hit the cap on my first playthrough. With all the DLC they have planned, makes it kind of meh. (Having hit the level cap so early, that is).

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

The best FemSheps can go with is Garrus... but of course scalies might not be for everyone.

Try a Sentinel for a good all-round class. If one runs out of ammo, one can destroy everything by using Magic Missiles Heavy Warp/Heavy Overload... cooldowns will be only a couple of seconds with the right upgrades too.

Take along Zaeed & Miranda and combat gets pretty trivial. I'm surprised by the old man, in fact... just like Shale in DA:O he has a good deal of input during missions... and is pretty much unstoppable.

And like Shale he also looks like a rock.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*
