Mass Effect 2 Discussion

Well, Tali takes the crown for drama queen. Even more than in ME1.

Anything but. Tali's probably the most mentally balanced chick in ME universe.

I only wish we could take 3 party members with us. Having Mordin, Garrus, & Tali would make for supremely hilarious dialogues, and supremely technical ownage.

I don't like what they did to Tali. Why did she have to come with Combat Drone instead of Overload? That stupid orb usually floats for about 5 seconds before it gets destroyed.

Combat Drone is one of those powers that seems to work a lot better when you're at the receiving end of it. And on insanity. And when half a dozen blue suns are zeroed on you.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

Maybe if she weren't still butthurt about the Geth. The Quarians are the Dalish Elves of Mass Effect.

The krogans got hit much harder with the genophage, and instead of complaining they actually try to do something, i.e. kill as many scalies/Turians as possible.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

I always thought of Quarries as the Humans from Battlestar Galactica.

And Krogans deserved to be sterilized. They're like Klingons on viagra.

Hey, at least Wrex is trying to be a bit cosntructive (if you got him to live through ME1) rather then the typical Krogan destroy, destroy, destroy rant.

I think a Krogan horde, combined with a Rachni horde, and possibly a Geth horde, would be the perfect remedy against a Reaper invasion.

It would be excellent if a Shepard that played through ME1 & ME2 full Renegade, would be unable to defeat the Reapers because of certain unfortunate decisions.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Yeah, the whole conversation with the

Rachni Queen's Messenger on Illium

if you'd played Paragon and not exterminated them in ME1 does kind of hint they could play an important role in ME3 when it arrives..

True, brother jags. All they ever talk about is how they're going to swarm over the galaxy and destroy everyone... and then keep destroying stuff just for the hell of it.

Because there's none faster than Chikktika vas Paus!

Fastpaws.

Although your referential powers amaze me, good sir, I'm afraid the Quarians will disagree with your naming conventions.

Bah, I don't care about the opinion of the Reference Fleet.

salvaging a ship full of Collector's technology and teaming up with Cerberus

rather than having a misfit army made of allies that can't fight in space. :p

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

mental balance? tali is number 2. dr. chakwas is, as far as we can tell, one o' the only women shep knows who ain't suffering from trauma, psychosis, hero-worship, or some other unpleasantness. for mass effect 3, Gromnir would prefer to develop a relationship with the doctor... though it not have to be romantic. develop a mature relationship with a supposed older women would be refreshing.

...

and for those folks with an unsavory desire to love-up older women, dr. chakwas has benefit of being old only insofar as the voice-actor portrayal and her hair color would suggest. heck, at least wynne from dragon age were given some liver spots and a few lines on her face to imply agedness. if we didn't know she were old, and we turned volume down, we would never guess that the doctor were anything other than a hawt 20-something.

we wants more chakwas in me3. me2 were too over-the-top with the character drama-- too many issues. chakwas were the only stable, non-traumatized, non-cerberus operative who we could talk to. refreshing.

HA! Good Fun!

Well looking at it from a certain point of view.. If you're gathering together a collection of individuals who are:

a> extremely capable of violence in a large degree

and b> likely to be okay with going on what everybody believes is a total suicide mission..

There wouldn't be many people who can tick the "mental balance" box on their cv :p

Even Shep has to have issues, although you can't really get a feel for them , I mean, Ruthless / War Hero / Survivor, all things that would leave a few mental scars.. that's not going into the whole Death Experience. "We heard you were dead." "I was. I got better."

Plus by now, I'd think Shep would be developing a nice case of a Cassandra complex..

I did, and I actually played ME with that intent in mind. And it was good to have that conformations in ME2

"Ok, what exactly are they saying? I was previously under the impression that if you die during the end game it would be taken as an official ending and Shepard would either be replaced by a 'new guy' or perhaps cloned. This basically sounds like dying doesn't actually count as the 'true' ending in ME 2.

I'm disapointed"

You must have heard that myth on the Codex as theya re butthurt over this too. ME series has always been about Shepard's story. No Shepard no story.

Doc is kewl and all; but she most certainly has hero worship of Shepard. This is a career military woman who decides to join enemy #1 just for the honour of serving Shepard.

"we would never guess that the doctor were anything other than a hawt 20-something."

Kiddin' right? Your eyes must be failing you if you think she can pass for a 'hot 20 soemthing'. 20 soemthings - espciially hot ones - don't look like her. She's not anicent but she's not young either.

There was a bit more to it then that.

After the Alliance decided to sweep the whole "reaper" side of it under the carpet they broke the surviving Normandy crew up and Doc got grounded. She's a doctor whose career was all about being on ships, travelling around, the constant change of situations challenging her. And suddenly the Alliance had her stuck on a major base where she couldn't go out flying around the universe and she was one member in a big medical staff. That was part of it.

The other, the only real "stability" in her career had been looking after Joker in a medical capacity. So it sounded almost like a mix of medical and maternal aspects kicking in. (even if it half countered her wish for new challenges by having the one constant). So with Joker away, she was losing that. Which she regained by joining the crew.

Plus, it wasn't so much hero-worship as the fact that she respects Shep as a Commander, and trusts him to make the correct choices. When presented with a galactic danger, Joker being on the crew, and then being told that Shep was going to be commanding... it doesn't quite seem like joining up enemy #1...

I'm wasn't rooting for elves I was rooting for Bioware to abandon this pedestrian universe they created after ME3 is through. No such luck.

" So far it seems similar to be to ME1 what KOTOR2 was to KOTOR1 - evolved gameplay, much better writing, darker atmosphere."

Kiddin' right?

KOTOR2 gameplay was exactkly the same as KOTOR only with easier combat.

The writing was of equal writing for the most part.

And, most definitely wasn't darker.

IN ME2's case, teh scenario was worse 'cause at least KOTOR2 was about equal with KOTOR1 in all ways. ME2 is EXTREMELY dumbed down. ME2's combat is basically hide n seek with guns. L0LZ The writing is about equal, and it's not all that much darker. On top of that, 'darker' does NOT mean 'better'. Unless you think Saw series is the best set of movies of all time.

"I like a universe with eleves in. How else am I going to kill elves?"

True dat.

"maternal aspects kicking in. "

Emo alert! Sory, she has a hero worshipping complex. No way a career military person like the doc would work for cerberus which is basically enemy #1 for the alliance just because she doesn't want to live on a planet. She does it because she was told she had a chance to work for Shepard. Not that I blame her in that regard; but it is hero worship. Just ebcause she doesn't slobber out 'Oooo Shepard...' doesn't chaneg that. She is too respecable and too old to act like a school girl who gets to see her crush again.

That's one of the things that makes her kewl.

You want them to create a new pedestrian universe?

NO

I want them to use a license that's worth a damn instead of wasting resources on building their own worlds. There are at least two decades of PnP role playing completely ignored by cRPG devs. If the want sci fi, why not Fading Suns... or a Dune RPG?

I just watched some of the Bio interviews and they make it sound like the game would continue Shepard or not. All that about consequences of going unprepared and you could officially die, 'we're serious about it being a suicide mission' etc. Basically, the suicide mission ending is just like being shot by any other enemy in the game and getting game over except it is longer and fancier.

I guess I was under the impression there would be a long lasting consequence to a Shep death... not simply having to play ME2 with a survivor and importing to ME3 or restarting the same Shep in ME3 as if the death didn't occur.

I usually disagree with Boo it seems, but for once we agree. I'd even like a modern Buck Rogers game. :-
