only thing which surprises me is Crysis in the list... I would replace it with Magic Carpet 1 or Syndicate 1 :)

and the nr.1 position is well deserved... i spent so many nights on X-COM 1 when i was teenager, that it's not nice :(

XCOM ftw.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

Hey, thats not a bad list at all! Usually when I read these best of all time lists, I start to go bald. Crysis gave me a smile though, especially because I happen to love the 4 games before it.

My list would be:

Portal

Jazz Jackrabbit 1/2

Jedi Knight 2

Worms 2

Icewind Dale 1

KOTOR1

Age of Empires 1

Age of Empires 2

Giants: Citizen Kabuto

Beyond Good and Evil

Deus Ex 1

Half-Life 1

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines

Baldur's Gate 1

Planescape: Torment

Quake 3: Arena

Fallout 1

Fallout 2

MotB? (am still in NWN2 OC)

Diablo 1

Diablo 2

System Shock 2

No One Lives Forever 1

Jagged Alliance 2

Warcraft 3/DotA/Tower Defence

I haven't played any of the Thief series, or Grim Fandango. I've probably also missed a few awesome games I own.

WoW, Crysis, Battlefield 1942 and Civ IV are out of place on this list I think.

Civ IV is awesome.

For some list fun here's the PC gamer Top 100 from 2001 and here's their top 50 from 2007.

The former list has merit, the latter gets worse as you get closer to no1.

No love for Dungeon Keeper?

Dungeon Keeper was awesome infact since mine was destroyed i have been meaning to get a new one. As far as IGN's list goes, cant say i agree with a huge chunk of it however things like this are bias on taste, however company of hero's over starcraft and command and conquer, i think not. I think some people dont even remember how the expansion alone for starcraft won game of the year in a couple magazines, let alone the main game.

Tony:"After your exciting adventures on the planet Democratus, the planet Democratus joins your party. The ruling council had so much fun they shrank their planet down to the size of a spacehopper to tag along. That's not the best bit. You can still visit Democratus. Everyone you talk to there has seen your subsequent adventures happening in the sky. They think it's a soap opera, and criticise the plot. Best. Game. Ever."

:p

A replay may be in order.

Anachronox is possibly one of the best games I have never played. Too bad I really don't like the jrpg style fighting.

Didn't Medal of Honor come before Call of Duty?

Definitely a good list though, people can argue about the order, but other than maybe Crysis (it is an amazing engine) most of those games deserve a place in any top game list.

Medal of Honor did come out before Call of Duty.

Call of Duty was such an intense game though. I'd pick it every time! The only bad parts were the solo SAS missions. I loved holding the town of St. Mere Eglise...so intense!!

Pavlov's House was amazing too.

It's your loss my hairy friend.

Hey! Atleast I got something to comb!

I guess you are so rich that even your hair is leather

Actually, my barber loves my rich hair.

Though I don't know where you got the idea that I'm critisizing (how the hell do you write this stupid word?) your fur.

Call of Duty didn't do anything new, it just did everything right. Atleast for the time. Aiming down the site, proning, leaning around walls yet keeping a fast pace. Also one of the first games to really add an army you are fighting with. Allied Assault had tried it a bit but the most was either the set peice D-Day landing mission or three squad mates at once. Infinity Ward had actually split from the dev team who worked on Allied Assault I believe.

On the top 50 list:

F.E.A.R.: I liked it, but I don't think it should be on a top 50. It got too repetitive and the little creepy girl crap got old long before the game was announced.

STALKER: Spoiled by repeatable note quests that had items popping up in the same place they popped up before. The atmosphere was fantastic though.

Sacrifice: FINALLY, someone noticed this game! As someone who isn't a huge fan of RTS game I fell in love with this game's art style and innovation. Like some cloudy dream.

Anachronox: Along with Chrono Trigger, best JRPG style game ever made. To hell with Final Fantasy!

Oblivion: At #8!? I know some must find me a paradox for loving F3 but hating Oblivion, but I just don't get the praise this game gets heaped with. The landscapes are great I suppose. Just like STALKER though, I don't think atmosphere can carry a game.

WoW: ARRRG! At #1!? I HATE MMOS!

The Rest: Either agree, never played or not really into genre but can still see why its on the list.
