Hello,

I purchased KOTOR 2 a couple of days ago. I installed the game and clicked 'Game' from the launcher. It plays the 'LucasArts' and 'Obsidian' logo movies and shows the title picture (of Nihilus, Sion and Vias) but the screen then goes black (although there is background music). A window pops up saying it has 'encounted a problem and must close'. I am then returned to the desktop. I have tried running with the movies and sound disabled with the same results.

I have the latest updates for my video, sound and motherboard drivers and the latest DirectX. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the game and rebooting. I have also installed both of the officals patches. I have disabled power management and I close my other applications such as anti-virus etc. when I try to run the game.

I can't think what else it could be.

Here is my system information:

I managed to fix the problem, here's how.

Go to start > Control Panel > System

Click the 'Hardware' tab

Click 'Device Manager'

Press the + next to 'Display Drivers'

Double Click 'NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE' (Or whatever the name of your card is)

Click on the 'Driver' tab

Click 'Roll Back Driver' and roll back to an earlier driver.

Alternatively you can download earlier drivers from the internet but I'm not sure where from.

I'm now using driver version 6.14.11.7813

Maybe there are later ones which work but I haven't checked.

The game plays with a few frame rate issues in foggy areas etc. but atleast it works. However all my other programs don't look quite so nice.
