Help! Can't move after first battle on Peragus

Recommended Posts

OK, I keep running into this same bug no matter what I do and it's driving me NUTS! :aiee: The game seems to run just fine, and I can get through the tutorial on board the Ebon Hawk with no problems. I wake up in the tank on Peragus, and I can move around, talk to Kreia, etc. just fine. I get into the first battle (with two droids), I can beat them just fine but then . . . that's it. I can no longer move after that first fight. I can move the camera around, get into all the various menu screens, use health packs, basically anything except move. Things I've tried:

Pausing the game

Unpausing the game

Going in and out of menus

Saving and reloading

Moving with WASD on the keyboard (the camera rotates with A and D, but I don't move at all with W or S)

Moving with the Mouse by holding down the left and right mouse buttons

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated. Per the "Solving "HELP" Issues, READ HERE BEFORE YOU POST A "HELP" TOPIC" topic, here is the nzone information:

I just wanted to add a little more information on my problem after playing around with it some more last night. If I save and reload after being stuck, I will be able to move around again. However I run into the exact same problem after each battle, forcing me to save and reload again. I also can't move around on my own DURING battles, all I can do is charge straight at the enemies, and that only works because I'm choosing to use a special attack (flurry or something like that.)

Has anyone run into anything like this before? Any advice on what I can do other than saving and reloading after each fight? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

I never ever run into such bug, do you have some mods installed??Try erasing them if so.

Did you try reinstalling the game? That sometimes helps.

Can't really think of anything more helpful

No mods are installed, all I've done is install the update to 1.0b.

On your suggestion I tried uninstalling it (making sure I deleted all saved games and other information) and reinstalling it. I tried it without the patch and ran into the same problem unfortunately. I installed the patch again and tried again with no luck :-

Thanks for your suggestions though. I'm willing to try about anything at this point.

I'm guessing that the problem is with the dual processor and graphics card. From the stickied help guide ( http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=41038 ) it seems you can run into problems using Nvidia cards with dual core processors. The advised solution there is to update the graphics drivers - a link to which can found above.

Hope that helps.

Well, when that happens to me (rarely), I usually just hit the TAB key as if I am going to switch party members and it seems to "unlock" movement. Not sure if that will work in a solo area like Peragus, though.

Also, with a multi-core processor, it is usually best to set the game's affinity to a single core.

How does it freeze? Does it sort of stop mid-running and jump across the room? Because if so re-install it and as cogadh said, press tab, or set the affinity to single core, not much else I can say though... I used to encounter that sort of problem on KotOR:I but never in TSL

I hate this bug. And I get it pretty often after fights. But unlike you can "fix" it. I usually switch to an unblocked party member.

H or placing a mine seems to fix it sometimes. Save and load always worked for me, but it's annoying.

I think the glitch in question is one I sometimes get on Dantooine. There the character sometimes locks in place, as if frozen in mid run. While you can rotate on the spot you can't otherwise move. (I assume this simply because I'm also using a GForce card as well).

Normally just waiting for a minute results in this problem clearing up for me, or as others have said switching to another character. Sometimes clicking on an object can bring the game out of this as well.

If this is the same general glitch then trying the GForce fix for graphical problems listed in the stickied FAQ thread may work here, it sorted out a similar glitch in K1 for me on Dantooine. Just be warned that the fix may result in some graphical errors in the game.

You could also try autosaving when you get stuck, then re-loading and seeing if that works.

Don't know if you've fixed this yet, but i had the exact same problem. Almost took the game back to the shop for a refund because of it. Finally found on the internet that you can fix it with the following:

When your game window appears, click on the "configure" button before starting the game. Click the box that says "V-sync", effectively turning it on.

That's it. After that start the game as per normal. It worked for me just fine.

Hope that helps
