They're actual soldiers, see this thread: http://www.wargamer.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=133056

I don't think Israel normally allows women into combat, although I found out not so long ago that US does.

There is a common sense of the country, Israel, always being a hair's breath away from destruction, no doubt as a result of the 6 day war. I am always weary of patriotism, it rarely brings out the best in people. I mean, it can sure, but most times it makes you blind to your own failings.

@Gorgon

I'm not sure what your post has to do with mine, and in answer to another question, there must be hundreds of photos in that thread, I don't think they're all fake.

ISRAELI women are required to do national service - and are being called up for operations in Gaza. Here are some of the girls in action.

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/gall...5010140,00.html

I don't know about the rest of Israeli girls, but if they're as beautiful as their counterparts in the military... man, EVERY SINGLE female Israeli soldier I've seen has been smoking hot.

I'm not sure if these are actual soldiers, or only models put into uniforms for a nice photoshooting. And if they're actual soldiers, then I'd like to know if they're in the infantry on the front, or desk writers for commando HQ.

Either way, some look okay-ish, some are actually ugly. But hey, different tastes and all...

I didn't click the link. I was just referring to Israeli soldiers I've seen in general.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say that the US does allow women into combat. In a general sense that is correct but from what I am guessing and what I assume that most people would surmise, then it is misleading. In my experience most people who have little exposure to the military usually think of combat as two armies marching at each other like the old days or storming the beach like in Saving Private Ryan and this simply is not true nowadays.

Women are in combat zones and may often find themselves in combat situations but women are not placed in direct combat with the enemy and do not hold the military occupation of an infantry position is the US military.

I cant speak for the other branches but I remember as far back as 1993-94 the Navy had started letting women on combatant ship (like the carrier I was station on at the time) instead of just support vessels.

I entered this thread expeecting internet-sober discussion on israeli military actions and I find pictures of Hot, Female, Israeli soldiers? 10/10.

Also I'd think that there must be some explanation for the large amount of such pictures on the internet besides Israel being the official land of the babes.

There are women on ships and there are women in infantry units however they are support personnel. As far as for women on combat ships I honestly didn't know they weren't allowed, I mean I figured WW2 era and possibly later but not now when there are really no naval threats to us anymore. It's basically a floating base and they are allowed in combat zones already so why not combat ships.

I would like to see this female Marine sniper post because I honestly don't believe it to be true. However, all Marines receive some basic infantry training and are required to do annual marksmanship training that does not make them infantry. It is very likely that she may be an excellent marksman of sniper caliber but that doesn't make her a scout sniper.

Nope, they werent allowed until the last 15 years or so and I remember it being a BIG deal back then. In the runup to allowing them on combat ships we all had to go through sesitivity and sexual harrasment classes. Then they sent a detachment of women out for a 30 day workup and the whole ship was in an uproar. You see, we were used to a sausage party for six months at a pop so letting women on board was like throwing bloody steak to hungry lions. They even went so far as to post watches on the womens dorm and tell us if anyone "turned up pregnant" there was hell to pay, lol.

I wouldn't be able to find it now, but yes she said they wouldn't let her be a scout because she's a woman. She did say she was in actual combat though, and it didn't sound like it was by accident.

That's interesting, I really do wish there was some more info on it because I'm really curious.

I'm not saying all combat situations involving women are "accidents" I'm just saying that the US does not use women as infantry. You yourself just said that they wouldn't let her become a scout sniper, which are the Marine Corps snipers, because she was a woman. Also I'm not saying that women can't do it because they are women but rather that they can't do it because it's policy. Of the five military branches Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard only two have actual infantry forces and neither allow women in infantry.

This.

Pretty sure Israeli women are part of the reserves, BTW. They don't fight head-to-head normally, but are still trained in front-line combat in case of emergency. I'll have to check later.

they don't. apparently the closest they come is manning machine guns on humvees guarding truck convoys in iraq.

doubtful that a woman marine is actually a "sniper," but they do get advanced infantry training for a month after basic.

wiki has an article on women in combat, btw.

When I was in boot they made sure to integrate male and female divisions. But they also made sure that contact between the two genders was kept so minimal that no relationships would develop (but that didn't stop some according to my petty officer, He's caught couples doing the deed in a little used bathroom in the building we were in).

As for Infantry I would expect that the general idea of keeping them out would be "OMG what happens when they are captured?" the general Idea I seem to have in my mind that most people would think about in terms of a captured female is that the captive would be raped constantly by her captors.

That's what I said. >_<

The training we all receive after boot camp is basically so that we can all fill a spot in the "front lines" as it were, if needed.

The woman may have been in some kind of combat operation because sh*t happens. I highly doubt it, very highly. Most likely it was on some type of convoy duty because that's where most things happen. Women are used quite a lot in Iraqistan not because of any progressive nature of the American people but more due to cultural issues over there in that part of the world. So to appear culturally sensitive to the rest of the world we put more women out there because the men aren't supposed to touch or even look at the women and it's really hard to search people if you can't touch or look at them.

From the Wiki article:

In modern wars, however, there may be no front line, and women, in such roles as military police providing convoy escort, or staffing checkpoints, have gotten into firefights as part of a mixed unit, Raven 42. SGT Leigh Ann Hester, among other decorated soldiers in the Raven 42 unit, received the Silver Star, the third highest US combat decoration. While nurses under fire had received this award previously, Hester was the first woman to receive it for direct participation in combat.

I also found this of interest:

Although women are recruited to serve in the military in most countries, only a few countries permit women to fill active combat roles. Countries that allow this include New Zealand, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Israel and Switzerland. Other nations allow female soldiers to serve in certain Combat Arms positions, such as the United Kingdom, which allows women to serve in Artillery roles, while still excluding them from units with a dedicated Infantry role. The United States allows women in most combat flying positions.

I don't get it, I mean being physically strong is an advantage I suppose, if everyone happens to run out of bullets at the same time, other than that it comes down to marksmanship, training, endurance. Soldiers are usually required to haul around a ludicrous amount of gear.

i worked with some outstanding female soldiers and officers. But I'd be totally lying if I said that intelligent, physically fit, and down to earth women weren't attractive.

That's what I used to think, but there was a woman on a forum who said she was a sniper in the Marines.

Not possible. Snipers must complete infantry school and have at least two years of fleet service before being selected for the scout/sniper program. I don't know about the Army but the Marines do not allow women to serve in "line" units meaning combat units. They do serve in air and support units but essentially infantry, artillery, and armor are not open to women marines. Pretty much everything else is.

I don't want to sound sexist here, but the WMs I served with were not very well respected. They did not pull their weight in training or day to day operations and most could not hack it in unit PT. Most of them finished the formation runs in the back of the trail vehicle with not a word said to them. And nearly every one had a mammoth chip on their shoulders. Not easy to deal with at all. That is not to cast aspersions on all WMs, but the ones I knew did not belong in the Corps.
