Humodour Posted May 22, 2008 Share Posted May 22, 2008 Fragmentation is only necessary when there is lots of file movement, creation and/or deletion going on. I imagine for consoles the relatively small hard drive size coupled with the fairly static nature of installed operating systems and programs means defragmentation is rather unnecessary. Tale Posted May 22, 2008 Share Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) PS3's OS/FS defragments as things get put onto the hard drive. This is only for internal. External HDDs do not get such benefit.
