So the high end D9E 9800 Card will have 65nm technology, while the lower end model will have 55nm technology? That sounds odd. Sounds like they want to come out with another high end 55nm card soon after the release of there already high end D9E card.

Like the new Nvidia die shrink is the 8800GT and the new 8800GTS will take the place of the old GTS? That didn't even make sense! I do wonder why they didn't just label them 8900gt and 8900GTS, that i can atleast too the diff.

Smaller die = bigger transistor budget & less heat & less power consumption = more performance enhancing functions & higher clock speeds

 

So no, it doesn't automatically mean faster GPU's but the end result usually is just that.
