E3 Microsoft Conference

Okay, I just stayed up and watched the Microsoft Conference from the new E3. Overall, it was... erm, okay.

Nothing really groundbreaking was announced. What I remember:

Gears of War for PC / XP + Vista. Shocking news.

Mass Effect trailer had nice music.

Lost Odyssey trailer was promising. Interested to see how the gameplay will turn out.

No new footage for GTA4, but apparently the prev two trailers were from the 360 version.

RE5 short teaser. Not much shown. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21466.html

Also, MGS4 on 360.

Assassin's Creed demonstration was nice enough. Nice music during the chase scene.

Live Action Halo was ROFLASKGJSAKGHASKJGAS

New Halo-themed 360 is ROFLASKGJSAKGHASKJGASer.

Halo 3 trailer was pretty cool. Nice orchestrated music. Just freaking announce online coop already, jerks.

Trailer here http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?ty...k=ethreeblowout

Disney + other studios will offer movies on Marketplace. Available tonight. Also, Canada + Europe.

Sonic 1 and Golden Axe coming out on Live Arcade tonight. Golden Axe is actually pretty awesome news. Online coop + a decent pricetag means Nick and me start hacking and slashing away.

Ultimately, they focused too much on games coming out this year. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but just means no huge announcements.

Not actually from the conference, but apparently Blue Dragon demo is out on Marketplace.

One of these announcements may or may not be false.

"MGS4 on Xbox360" i bet that one is a false announcement. The Xbots would've imploded the Internet in self-satisfaction and joy.

Heh, i was actually suprised that Mass Effect actually managed to stay within 2007. And right before christmas when i get my taxreturn.

Win-win situation (unless the game itself turns out to be very crappy).

You forgot that 360 is getting GTA4 and Madden 08 as exclusives. I don't care for either, but it's sure to boost their US installbase even more.

The Halo trailers were decent.

I don't understand exclusives anymore. Then again, I want my Heavenly Sword for 360. :shifty:

Chicks+big swords=Tale does not like

Does not compute. At all.

Golden Axe has the potential to be a real time-eater. I must've spent dozens of hours hacking away on Amiga 500, hehh heh.

My main beef with the X Box 360 is all the technical issues it has with the red ring of death. Spending $400+ on a console that will die rather quickly is a waste of time and money.

Yeha; but they give ya a 3 year warranty. No worries.

That doesn't mean "no worries." A dead console is still a waste of time sending it in and waiting to get it back. And a dead console 3 years from now is still a bad thing for those of us who like our consoles lasting longer than that. Eventually they'll get it fixed, but I won't be buying before I'm certain it'll last.

Or they have a game I'm willing to risk it for.

I prefer a stable and dependable platform that works over something that doesn't.

I've gone through 3 graphics cards in the past 3 years. Luckily all of them under sufficient warranty.

I grasp the point.

With the exception of the new motherboard I bought I have never had any technical problems concerning hardware and with using Vista I haven't had any software problems either. Before this the only problem I had, technical wise, was Windows ME, but beyond that I have had pretty stable gaming on the PC for years.

On a differnt topic, ME's new videos are awesome!

ME > KOTOR

P.S. While it sucks that xbox 360 has major problems - I know as I wa s victim - it still seems to be the new console with the most actual worthwhile games.
