Story in KOTOR 2

Recommended Posts

Just a quick post here.

I've never played Sith Lords and just picked it up for 15 bucks. I installed and started playing and the game seems a lot like KOTOR which is just fine with me.

The thing is though, I'm a sucker for a good story, and while KOTOR's was pretty generic I still found it great.

I've heard Sith Lords story is very convoluted and hard to understand which would suck. So.... what do you guys think. True or not true?

Appreciate any replies.

Alright, thanks to the folk below, I'll change it into spoiler.

Not only 1 NPC, there are also lots of NPCs like K1. The storyline is good, but the pity is it didn't even cross Revan.

Well, it's great story (but I hate it, it doesn't fit into SW) but ending sucks. TSLRP is going to restore original ending/other stuff tho

How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about with TSL and Exile to Reven.

Could someone explain to me what these are? I would appreciate it.

Anyway, I guess the story isn't so great huh? That seems to be the general consensus.

Thanks again.

BTW; I didn't think I was spoiling anything by asking about the story. Did I?

Double BTW; How do I turn off a force power once I activate one? Can't find it in the manual.

It's great story that's hidden in obscure places (mainly, if you don't know what you're doing influence-wise, you'll miss half the stuff that gives the story meaning).

It's also my opinion (and I recognize it's not universally shared) that the story's more intelligible and coherent of played as a Dark Side character.

With K2, game for a lightside Exile can be ridiculously flexible. Your character can still support a villain and still stay as lightside. What this also means is that killing can be excessive for character without having alignment penalties for LS characters. That's a bit hard to understand.

True. The story in K2 is awesome IMO, but it's not your stereotypical Star Wars story, and it does go against canon, as in canon, there is no life without the force. Still, it brought something new to Star Wars, something which K1 never did, from a plot perspective that is.

The game is great, however take note that it requires you to pay attention and go searching for the answers to some questions you have on your mind (you won't find all the answers you're looking for because of cut content) unlike in K1, when the answers came to you and you never had to search for them.

Because of influence and the gender/alignment of your character, you'll miss things here and there and will at least need to try all four combinations to get the full circle, to learn things from all perspectives, so in that sense, the replay value is decent. The ending completely sucks though (thanks to LA ). It's very WTF'ish, lame and anti-climatic.

The story is unconventional and violates the usual rules. Its also hard to understand. It doesn't really help that the game is obviously unfinished. Many of the last levels of it do not really make sense.

But you can expect the main villain to have a very unconventional motivation; taking over the world wasn't exactly his plan.

Can only think of influencing characters like Mandalore, HK-47, Visas, G0T0 and perhaps Kreia occasionally for DS. With darkside, characters influenced are usually HK-47 and Visas. Can't give specific reason, but G0T0 is character that I hardly used at all as his story was hard to grasp at all. Still, Kreia's story is something that was hardly told in any character from original KotOR.

Is the story coherent at all? I mean am I going to play the whole game and wonder what it was all about? I don't really care if it's not accurate "Star Wars" material as I didn't buy KOTOR for that. I just wanted an RPG with a decent story which I got with the original. Just hoping that the Sith Lords story makes some kind of sense.

Thanks again.

Well, you don't wonder what its all about, but the end is very unfinished and some actions of your opponents remain in a state of being very hard to understand.

At the end you also get pushed into some levels with tasks that have not be explained before and are never talked about afterwards either.

In short, the end of the game is some kind of beta, storywise. The earlier levels are finished, however.

Oh, and if you're not planning to buy the english original, you should really try to get that one, because then you can already play with the stuff from Team Gizka who are trying to restore all left out content, or at least most of it.

People like me who have the german version are excluded, sadly.

Well I'm asking about this because so far anyway, the story has sucked me in pretty good. Although I've already lost some influence with Kriea, or whatever the old broads name is. I know this has been placed in the spoilers section but I would appreciate it if we can keep this kinda spoiler free, as I'm just starting the game.

Just how important is the influence system in the game? I'm only now just trying to start the quest for the Itharians, (escorting their robot), as I've decided, for the time being anyway, to ally with them. Guess I'm just wondering if I need to really pay attention to this part of the game.

Again, thanks.

I think you should kill them all, kill them all if I could I will kill everyone on my ship other then HK and T3 but thats just me.

The force helps me poop better, and use lightsabers to cut my food that then turns into poop.

Fairly important. Or at least important to influence Kreia and Bao-Dur.

Especially Kreia. You get much more from the game if you have good influence with her
