When you found him on Telos, he talked about how he wanted to heal something, that's why he was designing the planetary shields. He said something like "I saw Telos before the Sith razed it. It deserved a better fate." It would really fit if he sacrificed himself not only helping you, but also saving Telos as he originally wanted to do.
