Making me envious.

I'm using my 2.5 year old computer that I built ages ago to be able to play some newer games (Supreme Commander and others).

AMD Athlon 62 x2 6400+ 3.2ghz dual core processor

8800 gts g92 512mb (Was a new card back when I built this computer. That was a long time ago.)

4gb DDR2 800 5-5-5-12 1.9v

Some cheap Creative Sound Blaster so I can actually use my 5.1 speakers

Seagate Barracuda 320gb sATA hard drive (this thing makes a lot of noise, not recommended at all)

****ty $20 case with 1x 80mm fan. My video card temperatures are fun (~85 degrees under load)

22'' ACER LCD monitor (Yeah, it was cheap, but the image is fantastic).

Still, it has lasted me 2.5 years, and I love it to death.

Well, I got Windows 7 Ultimate, which in turn made my keyboard unusable (No windows 7 drivers). Got the water cooling blocks and the gfx card too (XFX "Black Edition" Radeon 5970). Still need to replace the fan on the gfx card with the cooling block. I wonder why I even bother with a case, it's not like my stuff is going to fit in there again :p

Still need to find a good keyboard one of these days. Maybe that DAS Keyboard somebody once posted a link to.

Describes my previous PC very well (except it is 5+ years old). I still hang on to it. It just keeps running and running.

Intel I7 960 (3.2GHz) (stock cooler)

I don't know why it amuses me so much knowing that you paid three times as much for the exact same part as I did (i7 920 @ 3.2 GHz).

Schadenfreude.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Intel Core i7 920 (@3.2GHz)

6 GB 1600 MHz Corsair XMS3

Gigabyte X58A-UD7 motherboard (with USB3/SATA3 support)

Corsair Force Series F120

Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB

Asus VH242H 24" (1920x1080)

I'm thinking about the Prolimatech Megahalems, but I haven't decided yet.
Ok, I still haven't decided on a cooler, but I am eyeing the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme..

I still haven't decided! I'm running on the stock cooler. But now I am eyeing this: http://www.corsair.com/products/h70/default.aspx

I will decide soon.. I think.

Is there a noticable increase in performance [Ed: with regards to SSD] ?

I just copied a file from the SSD to the 2TB, and I reached 237MB/s! It stayed between 149-237MB/s the whole time. Lightning fast.

Megahalems is still top of the pops at SPCR. The only notable release since then that I'm aware of is the Thermalright HR-02 which they haven't reviewed, but that's their silence-oriented series anyway.

They haven't tested the H70 on Silent PC Review, but I read another review:

"This thing is a beast in stock configuration. It easily destroys good air based CPU coolers and does so with ease."

Makes sense - that was the main failing of the H50 which SPCR did review. But I'd imagine they'd instantly fail it anyway since the noise seems no different. At any rate, all my builds are absolutely slanted towards quiet computing so I admit I really haven't looked at all into what Corsair are trying to do.

Breaks my heart that I can't source one of those Gelid Icy Vision VGA coolers in Australia. If AMD's new 6850 can be passively cooled, I'd jump on it even with it being a slight downgrade to what I have. I doubt such a beast is possible though.

I wonder how big a difference there is between 4GB and 6GB, considering that dual channel is not being used.

Are you running 64bit Windows?
