Has anybody seen Gondry's Science of Sleep (Le science des reves) or The Valet (Veber, La Doublure)? It's film festival time in NZ and I'm wondering if I should bother with them. I like Gondry and The Closet was fun (Veber), but the reviews aren't so glittering for the latter and Gondry may be a little too avant for the people I"m watching with.

Kung Fu Hustle

Meh.  It was okay.  Wasn't really that funny.

But you are reading subtitles or worse, watching a dubbed version. Even people watched the film in Mandarin thought it was way funnier in Cantonese since Chow's delivery in Cantonese is his bread and butter.

Saw the dubbed version first, didn't like it much. Saw the subtitled version, liked it better. Maybe you should teach me Cantonese so I can enjoy the movie to its fullest. :p

Domino

Average at best. Kiera Knightly needs to never ever try to act the tough girl again but all was forgiven with her nudity. Mickey Rourk and Watkins are gold as usual but I found the plot just a little too over-the-top.

Isn't it a true story?

Well at the beginning the credits say;

"Based on a true story.......sort of"

And at the end the narrator (Kiera) says "and I wont tell you which parts were true", so make of it what you will.

I saw Squid And The Whale today. It's pretty good, though mostly for the acting. The story and directing are just ok.

Has anyone seen Me And You And Everyone We Know or Klimt? If so, what did you think about them?

I hear that be the worst movie in the history of cinema (yes, worse than Godard, Tati and Resnais put together) and a pathetic broad's crowning achievement. I suggest you read the plot outline and then rent, um, have you seen Visitor Q, A Short Film About Killing or Baisers vol

Show your friends the trailer for Science of sleep. See if it piques their interest at all.

I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Kung Fu Hustle is definitely a top contender for my favourite movie of all time. Absolutely love that movie so much, despite the fact that it may be dubbed and I might not actually have seen the true humour behind the story, etc, I still love everything about it.

Maybe the only thing I didn't like was the part where they all of a sudden turn into superman and start running ridiculously fast. Meh.

It's 100F in the house, way too hot, so I'm off to finally see Superman Returns. :rolleyes:
