Why do you hate YOUR country

Now that you mentioned it, no, I don't think I have the link.

Would you mind...?

Mind what? I don't have it, that's why I asked. It was one of the most silly things I've ever seen.

I'm curious, why is there such a huge contigent of Danes here? I can't see many Norrs or Swedes, but there seems to be a Dane for every thread nowadays.

Well, there's about the same amount of Finns here, and we've got you out-populated by about 200.000 people!!111 :-

Sorry, I don't have it.

Ehmm...but doesn't Swedland out-populate you? There's certainly less swedes here then Danes. Anyways, that's not the really relevant, as I was asking why.

Edit: I've counted about 12 Finns. We're everywhere. :D

Indeed, but don't tell me that you miss em! :-

That's right, Finland must be even more of an in-door nation than Denmark, even though I can't imagine a place with a more depressing winter, save perhaps for Greenland.

Monty Python: Finland

Finland, Finland, Finland,

The country where I want to be,

Pony trekking or camping,

Or just watching TV.

Finland, Finland, Finland.

It's the country for me.

You're so near to Russia,

So far from Japan,

Quite a long way from Cairo,

Lots of miles from Vietnam.

Finland, Finland, Finland,

The country where I want to be,

Eating breakfast or dinner,

Or snack lunch in the hall.

Finland, Finland, Finland.

Finland has it all.

You're so sadly neglected

And often ignored,

A poor second to Belgium,

When going abroad.

Finland, Finland, Finland,

The country where I quite want to be,

Your mountains so lofty,

Your treetops so tall.

Finland, Finland, Finland.

Finland has it all.

Finland, Finland, Finland,

The country where I quite want to be,

Your mountains so lofty,

Your treetops so tall.

Finland, Finland, Finland.

Finland has it all.

Finland has it all.

Background:

Finland was a province and then a grand duchy under Sweden from the 12th to the 19th centuries and an autonomous grand duchy of Russia after 1809. It won its complete independence in 1917. During World War II, it was able to successfully defend its freedom and resist invasions by the Soviet Union - albeit with some loss of territory. In the subsequent half century, the Finns made a remarkable transformation from a farm/forest economy to a diversified modern industrial economy; per capita income is now on par with Western Europe. As a member of the European Union, Finland was the only Nordic state to join the euro system at its initiation in January 1999.

That 'h' in the first letter of Hamina on meta's map - I live there. :-

Edit: And I'm going to study history in Tampere, because it totally owns other cities when it comes to summers.

We are btw that strange country which likes Conan O'Brien. :p (He is good, you know :D ) And of course, we invented strange thing called Sauna (Sweden people copied it from us!), Santa Claus lives in Lapland, not in North Pole, even though americans are spreading this heretic informaton.

And you've got totally awesome history. Ours is just full of conquests. Usually against us. And we've lost almost always.

Hey Hooah, how's our favorite yankee soldier doing? ^_^

Not bad, not bad :)

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

--John Stewart Mill--

"Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns."

So what will you be doing in Ft. Irwin, CA., some specialised training or....?

Mostly training for desert warfare. Ought to be fun :)
