Help! Game is a crashfest on Nar Shaddaa

Recommended Posts

Incredible, I can't move my character 40 steps (literally) without having to crash in Nar Shaddaa. The game lived up to my expectations, and I was savouring every moment of it, from Peragus to Dantooine (yes it lagged, but it was still bearable compared to this...). But upon arrival to Nar Shaddaa...wow that's where everything went downhill. I got a duplicate Mira and Hanharr who couldn't talk to me, I crashed 10 times in 5 mins, had 2-3 quests I couldn't complete (Lootra/Aaida quest, TSF Criminal Tracking etc)...the game was literally slaughtering every bit of memorable event I had in-game for the past 3 days

I'm sorry for ranting, but it really is upsetting to be WOW-ing at the game throughout, and suddenly you reach a particularly buggy area. It's almost as if Lucasarts just threw the book in OE's faces (which I'm guessing they most probably did) and said "Hey, stop fixing the bugs, just release the damn game already"

Anyhow, my PC settings more than meet the min requirements. Here is the log file from AR_ERROR.log

Names Differ: N_DarthBand pmbmm

And here's swinfo

I would appreciate any form of advice. I mean hell I can ignore quest bugs (though they are disturbing), but having to crash twice in 1 minute is...ridiculous

EDIT: oh, before you do anything, open swkotor2.ini with notepad, and add the line;

Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1

add that line at the bottom of "graphics options". It might help with the laggyness. Then try out the game before doing anything else.

The error was N_DarthBand pmbmm? That to me sounds like there was a problem with somthing regarding darth bandon... but he was in kotor1 (though files from him are probly in kotor2 too).

Have you installed any mods at all?

I would reccomend backing up your saved games, then re-installing the game (as it sounds like it has a problem with a file) update you game and install all of the "Gameplay fixes" from team gizka: Link to team gizka

I would also try playing the game a little BEFORE restoring your old saves, just incase restoring your saved games gives you problems.

Cactus, now that you mentioned it, I do have quite a number of mods installed. I googled for the files mentioned: N_darthband, and pmbmm, and it seems it came from Redhawke's prestige class items pack. I'll delete it now and see what happens. Will update this thread in a while, thanks
