Star Wars : KotOR II and new technologies

Recommended Posts

Dear Obsidian Entertainment community,

it's been a while since my last visit here, and I start posting here again, since I think none other messages boards could provide me answers to such questions... (Which might cost me a lot of money and time spent uselessly...)

So, here they're :

- Can KotOR II handle properly nVidia's Scalable Link Interface technology ?

- Can KotOR II be used with two (Or only one) nVidia GeForce 7 series' video card(s) ? (GeForce 7800GTX, 7800GT, 7800GS, etc...)

- Does this game support AMD Athlon 64 processors ? (Such as the Athlon 64 FX-57, etc...)

- What about multi-core ones ? (Like the Athlon X2 4800+ and all others, without forgetting the quad-core processors scheduled for 2007)

- Which nVidia driver(s) is (are) the most adapted for playing at KotOR II ?

Maybe all these questions have been already asked there, but I'm not here for spamming, just to get answers to them... In fact, this thread could almost be used as a F.A.Q., in order to gather all "Questions and Answers" regarding KotOR II and all new technologies... (Quad-cores, A.T.I. Crossfire, etc...)

Thanks in advance !...

With my best regards...

Well, I had to post a copy of this topic on BioWare forums, since Obsidian has not designed KotOR I...

However, I'm surprised nobody else has replied to my questions...

(Also, I'd like to add another one to my current list : Can KotOR II be run on a computer owning nVidia Quadro products, either in SLI mode or not ?...)

What is this "compatibilty thing" you're talking of ?

I also precise that I'd like to get feedbacks of owners of the products I've mentioned, since I've not got them yet...

Thanks again !...

My friends got two BFG 7800's and it runs fine. I know someone else with an FX-55 that runs it perfectly too. Both KOTORs will run fine on amazing systems, don't worry.

[edit: if you're going to spend that much on a system, my guess is that you can afford a $29.99 KOTOR game, and I saw that price at Best Buy. I'm sure you could find it cheaper elsewhere. I wouldn't be afraid to purchase a relatively cheap game.]

In fact, I've already bought both these two games, STD'...

Now, I think I've got all answers I needed... Also, if anyone has interesting informations about KotOR I / II's compatibility with recent technologies, please post them here...

Thanks in advance !...
