To me it's a tie, Handmaiden is the best unarmed fighter but Disciple is like a portable lab station and is the best at close combat. The only issue with Disciple is that when you jedify him, he becomes a Jedi Consular when he is a Soilder.

So I'll say Handmaiden.

Sort of like the

Handmaiden

. A PC can learn

Battle Precognition

from her. (If playing as a Consular, it helps together with dueling feats)

Defence with finesse lightsabers is increased if dexterity is raised apart from wisdom

.

Deep from within...

Besides adding a lot of content and being a generally keen eye, he's pretty handy as battlesupport. Nothing worse than having allies obstructing force jump paths. Better suited in the background. Depends on style, but I prefer having disciple(s)...

I agree with Ioini, Dark Angle, it helps to read the beginning of a thread before posting in it, so you actually have a rough idea what it is about...

On-topic though, i would definatly agree that Handmaiden is a heck of a lot better than Disciple, but that's probably mainly because she was one of my personal favourites in the game, she is pretty damn good at melee,

and as a jedi too...

Probably Handmaiden.I haven't used Disciple much

(the only thing that i liked about him is that he can be turned into a Jedi pretty fast)

,as for the handmaiden she was good in melee and a nice sparing partner :-

Disciple. I just level up him up a few to several levels for more melee feats first (to lvl 12-13 or something) and then jedify him. He doesn't need maxxed/pumped up Force powers since...well...he rarely uses them unelss I'm not in the lead. And even without those extra Jedi levels his Force lightning ends up being just fine.

He makes a great tank that way, still has decent Jedi powers, and the medical abilities.

That, and I don't like playing as a male in this game, so Handmaiden isn't an option. :-

Since I enjoy playing a male, I prefer Handmaiden ... but it's also because of what was highlighted earlier: I like to use Consulars/Jedi Masters/Sith Lords (mmm Force powers), and she's

capable of teaching that great +WIS to Defense thing.

I've played females, LS and DS, and used Disciple before... just wasn't as impressive to me.

I preferred the Handmaiden, I thought she was fairly decent if you left her unarmed. But I did have a fair bit of fun by sending Disciple in for the first attack while my other players would activate their sheilds, force powers, etc. But somehow he managed to stay alive most of the time.

Both characters have a lot of similarities, but the superior one, in my opinion is, the handmaiden. Her dialoges are slightly more interesting and the sparring matches with her are a nice addition to the character, but the real advantages of having her is that she teaches you a really useful force power, not to mention you get her as a party member earlier than the disciple.

The disciple unique abilities are fairy useful, but in the later game they are almost useless. Still, I like that he is a

combination of a soldier and a consular.

Yep, Atton is romanceable or actually he considers the female PC romanceable. <_< I (male) tried playing as female PC once. Let's just say that now I know how women feel when guys try to use their cheesy and/or sleezy pick up lines on them.

EDIT: The force thingy you can learn from Handmaiden rules.

I bet some of you female kotor players would hope to spar with Disciple and teach you battle precongtion.  :ermm:

Yes, I was rather disappointed that the guys got to 'spar' with their honey while us girls got nothing but "Yes? Is something wrong?"

I prefer Disciple.

The only character out there who can use some of those 27+ heavy armours you end up with.

I avoid turning him into a jedi, so he and Mandalore can specialise in and use some of those nice high powered rifles that you get/customise :p

Sorry, for me it is the Disciple. Once he is Jedified, he is brilliant in combat, plus you recover force points through meditation with him. Have to confess to not using him much at all as a lab station, lol...although he is always the main member I take in my party :p

Now that would have been nice. Seems us girls don't get that much fun, LOL <_<
