Bao-Dur's character

Recommended Posts

it depends when you jedify him. if you keep him at level 6, then hold levels until you can jedify him, he's pretty good.

it's kinda odd how he goes from a pitifully weak Tech Specialist to a big nasty Guardian

Give him just a few levels in Tech spec then hold. Now you have a Jedi Gaurdian with mad skillz!

I liked Bao Dur, he just needs more convo options you can use for more backstory. A nice cut-scene of you two blowing up the planet would have been nice...

That would have been AWESOME! Especially with the credit's end theme. (5 minutes to wait)

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Bao-Dur's Shield Breaker and Gravitonic Strike were power moves. Liked that they could be used even when he was using weapons.

I almost never used Bao-dur in my party.I find him pretty useless and weak(it's probably because I wasn't been able to turn him into a jedi and I'am too lazy to play the whole game again)

Errrmmmm.....that lightsaber lens, if you were trying to use the lenses you can buy or make you were doing it totally wrong. You should get the lens you need from quests on your first planet after Telos. I have never heard of anyone not getting a lightsaber.

Hence the "glitch". That lens didn't spawn in the proper area, so I never got it, so he wouldn't let me build a lightsaber even though I found other lenses.

Bao's voice annoyed me quite a bit when I first got him, plus yea, he seemed weak when I knew nothing about the game initally, hehe, thus the first play-thru I stopped using him as soon as I could.

But later, I gave him a chance and turned him into a Jedi and all of that, and he was quite decent. Plus he has the coolest DS 'look..'

His background/motivation is pretty interesting, but as others already said, in-game he was lacking something.

I still don't like his voice tho - it's too whispery for me. I don't think he sounds anything like Walken tonal-wise. The throatiness yes...tone no.

The DS Bao-Dur looks like someone from hell, and Bao-Dur LS looks like a more sane character.

He was usless. Even if you turned him into a Jedi, you still couldn't do much with him. He wasn't that great of a fighter, and he died to quickly. Most of the time he's back on the ship with that Remote. I useally take Visas and Disciple...

Dude.. Did you use him as an unarmed specialist? He kicked azz for me. Also if you gave him a strong ion lightsaber after you made him a Jedi, the droids got SMOKED. If only they'd left the HK factory on there...

As far as conversation/story goes, he did mention that whatever he did in the Mandalorian wars, he did out of hate and revenge. HE built the mass shadow generator that destroyed Malachor V. AND he was only a low level tech when your main character was a "General" in the wars. How many generals get chummy with the low level techs during a war?

As for knowing Canderous was Mandalore, atleast on my playthrough, Kreia mentions it in the "Last gift of future vision" that she gives after her defeat at Malachor.

But Bao-Dur was AWESOME for me. I used him as unarmed specialist. He broke defensive shields of most enemy characters for me. My main had a lighsaber and the third member was either Atton/ Mira with Master Rapid shot and a Heavy repeating rifle/ carbine. After Bao-dur was through with shields, you can imagine what my ranged character's effects were...

And he can still use his Shield Breaker ability if you give him a single bladed saber.

I don't use him so much when I play, but he's ok. ;)  One I don't use at all is Hanharr.

That's a mistake. Hanharr, when levelled up and on one of his Furies, is an INSANE melee combatant.

For example, in the Jekk'Jekk Tarr underground part, when you control Mira, she gets ripped apart quite easily by the Ubese. It's the other way around with Hanharr. Plus, in one of my previous games, in Freedon Nadd's tomb, when I fought the three Sith Masters at the end of the tomb, Hanharr managed to kill two of them BY HIMSELF. This was with two Rykk Blades, too.

Hanharr is one of the most powerful melee fighters you can have, which is probably why he's DS; they always go for the extra power.

To remain a little on-topic, though, I did kinda like Bao-Dur as a character. I mean, yeah, his voice was a little quiet, but he's usually one of the first I make into a Jedi, and he's a great skills guy too.

I never actually used him except on telos, Never saw a reason to use his shield breaker.

Really? It's great for getting rid of those pesky melee shields the mercenaries wear.

Tried using Shield Breaker and it also does damage against enemies even without shields. Besides, it seems to be the first feat on Bao-Dur's attack list if you select him as your character.

I found it extremely difficult to get influence with Bao-Dur, especially considering he's on your team from such an early point, regardless of which alignment I aimed for. It was a shame they removed him as a romance option too, I think that disappointed a lot of people...

The whole 'jedification' thing of most the characters irritated me no end -surely if they were powerful enough in the force to become powerful jedi in such a short amount of time, they would have been spotted at an earlier age? Particularly Bao Dur, who fought along side the jedi in the wars?

Bao-dur is an awesome character. Unlike what seems to be the majority of people, I like his voice. Also, his link to the Exile from the war makes him feel like an old friend. It's annoying having to have him in your party when you're holding his levels, but he really whoops it up once you Guardianify him.

Yeah... Put him in the Krath armor (heavy works, but holy is better)... Not only are the stats good, but the color is nice too. Give him a blue double-bladed saber, pimp out his Strength and Flurry, and watch all the bad guys die.

I still wish they had expanded on his character a bit more. More war stories like Canderous had would have been pretty boss...

I personally thought Bao-Dur was a cool guy, except it wasn't til my second time through I could actually get enough influence to "jedify" him. Damn that was hard! I thought he was cool because he shared my views as a light side Jedi and that arm he had was pretty cool. But his constant whispering was kind of creepy and annoying.

We need more Zabraks with mechanical arms in video games!
