WTF?

Just because I do not want to discuss where I spent my money online you automatically assume that it is porn?

Tell me this, buddy, why the f**k is it your business anyway? It isn't and that is that. Can't deal with my answer, do us favor and blow your head off. My life and finances are not an open book to you. :ermm:

Yes, when it comes to money and people wanting to get in my business it kind of ticks me off. I made purchases online. I got screwed. I am not going to do it again. That is all you people need to know about my money. Sheesh. What right do you have to demand a explanation more than that?

Going with the hit nerve :geek:

The main reason why I asked was because it's very easy to say "I tried it and got burned!" even if it never happened.

Fortunately, you can still mail a cheque to the people to buy Geneforge. Or have you been burned by mail fraud too?

And if it's THAT bad, don't you have any friends that don't mind using e-commerce, and you could just use them to buy the game? Refusing to purchase stuff online does not make a game like Geneforge unavailable. Aside from the fact that they also offer fax and phone ordering, it's not THAT difficult to find ways of buying the game without using your own credit card over the internet.

Somebody should notify the people that made the Best Selling Games Wiki.

Somehow I doubt Planescape: Torment selling more than the original quake.  Otherwise we'd have Planescape: Torment 2 and Planescape: Torment Arena as well.

"Please note this is an incomplete list."

I saw Feargus say that contrary to common belief, PS:T had been quite successful; that it had sold over [a] million copies.

It was 1, 2 or 3 million. I don't remember the exact figure; he was still at Black Isle at the time.

PS:T had no sequel for a number of reasons: 1) Interplay didn't want to fund anything that wasn't an AAA title, 2) PS:T had a very final ending. 3) A sequel would probably not be as good since PS:T was so unique 4) PS:T sold well OVER TIME. It was not an instant commercial success.

There's a world of difference between 1 and 2 million, let alone 3 million.

If Planescape: Torment sold anywhere near eve 2 million, we WOULD have had sequels.

I don't think there's any chance PS:T sold over a million copies although I do remember Feargus saying something along the lines that PS:T was modestly profitable or something similar. Anyway, a sequel wasn't the product that would generate the quick cash Interplay increasingly needed and the Planescape license was soon lost, so they couldn't make it even if they wanted. I doubt the ending or whether a sequel could maintain the same quality was a consideration at all.

Thing is, if the game sold a million copies, then it sold quite well. I can't see a game being "modestly profitable" even if it's just in the long run, if it sells a million copies. Jade Empire has only sold 500,000 copies, albeit in a shorter time frame.

There's no way the game sold anywhere near 3 million copies though. To suggest that it's even close to selling half of what Starcraft did is rather bold in my opinion.

I think it would do better if they decided to release it on the PC (begins to pray for that to happen)

I think you are right on the money. I do not own or want an Xbox or any console for that matter. I'm thinking that while there are at least 500,000 CPRG fans who do, Bioware really missed their core audience by not making this for PC as well. I'd buy it if it were.

I have a feeling that the release of JE on an Xbox console was simply to see how people responded to that, to allow Bioware to get a feel of how a sequel could takeover from JE. They could have developed the game further, but probably held back a bit.
