Conspiracies: Are they real?

Watch "Ghost Hunters".  It's on the travel channel, I think.  Or it could be Sci-Fi (having a mental block).  :shifty:  Great show.  Sometimes the History Channel shows great ghost/UFO/monster documentaries.

History Channel = greatness

History channel rocks! I just saw some alien and bigfoot documentaries on there. Good stuff :shifty:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

"Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns."

Listen, the new world order will make the globe a better place. Trust me.

I was under the impression that the New World Order only seeked sought to crush democracy and to control every human being on the planet. ;) I also read that they plan on killing off 5.5 billion people in an effort to downsize the population. But hey, that sounds like a better place for sure!

It's fine as long as you're one of the 0.5 billion that is left after the downsizing ... still the figures don't sound right; there will always be a need for an underclass: automation costs far more than working class people to maintain and run ...

perhaps isn't good enough, have you seen a ghost yes or no simple question!

I saw what I thought to be a ghost. But I can't give you a positive confirmation. And for a while my Mom was with one of those bible groups, and they basically had to go to the houses of people who encountered paranormal activity. When they were there they saw some poltergeist type stuff.

what did it look like and did it say anything?i'm fricken interested!

Alright, here is the story. One morning I was brushing my teeth, and I was the only one upstairs. I looked up into the mirror and I saw this person walk past the doorway. The wierd thing was that it was completely opaque. Like a silhouette. And as it walked by I got shivers down my spine. I don't know what it was.

creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppppyyyyyyyyyyyyy, did you ever see it again? ;)

No, I haven't seen it since thankfully. That had to be one of the freakiest moments of my life.

On the plus side, they say ghosts only appear to people of good / friendly disposition.

My step-daughter saw one, in boarding school, when she was under ten years old. She woke up and there was a little girl sitting on the end of her bed. ... :(

Well, if they try to take over during my lifetime, I'll be sure that I won't go down without a fight.

Pretty freaky.  But don't forget: as long as humans exist, there will be wackos coming up with strange theories to explain things they don't understand, whether to get attention or sound smart, or, in some cases, government/America bashing.  The same goes for alien abductees and ghost witnesses: you'd be surprised what people will do simply for attention.

...And, at any rate, we can conclude that America sucks! Who is with me?!"

Well now. That explains why the most supernatural thing that's ever happened to me is my keychain repeatedly going missing for no apparent reason.

Well commissar I think some of your stuff has a lot of truth in it and it looks like you have done your research. I have read some interesting post on here today and I have a true story better than any you will ever find. This involves me and my family so I will not relase my name or anything. I am leaving for a 2-3 week vacation so I wont be able to answer any questions until then. Anyway here is my story.

My mexican side of the family have had their share of ghost stories and creepy events but since I was not there to view them I will not tell them now. What I am going to tell is all true and it is because I have seen and heard it myself.

When I was 7 years old, me and my younger brother lived in an apartment with my dad and my stepmom in Miami, Florida. We had never really experienced anything unordinary in the apartment until one very odd week. My brother was laying on the top of our bunk bed while I was on bottom one night and he woke me from his screaming. He told me he wanted me to sleep with him because he was scared of these things he kept seeing on the ceiling. I didnt believe him of course but slept beside him anyway. Not long after I dozed off he woke me again. This time he told me to look up. When I looked up I saw several white faces staring down and us. Of course being ages 6 and 7 we were very scared and ran to our dads bedroom and spent the night with him. He didnt listen to what we said at first so all we could do is sleep in the livingroom a few days until my dad made us sleep in our room again. The night we went back in the room I had the wierdest dream. The dream started with a man running through one of those large parking garages they have at casinos but this one was empty. I knew this because my dad has worked at casinos for nearly a decade now. Well anyway the man was running through the parking garage and looking around and then all of the sudden he turns around and screams. The dream went on about the Devil chasing people and eventually killing them. Finally in my dream the Devil started chasing me. He finally found me and we fought and somehow I defeated him. After this I woke up very quickly and laid in my bed breathing heavily and lookinf at the bottom of my little brothers top bunk. Finally after I cooled down a bit I looked to the right and saw the most horrifying thing I have ever seen in my life. The Devil stood in the corner of my room steadily laughing and pointing at me. I was so scared I again left the room and ran to my dads room as I usually did when I had nightmares. We moved out of the house not long afterwards and moved out of the state. A few years later my older brother who stayed with my mom ( parents divorced ) had some peculiar things happen to him. One day we were discussing ghost. My older brother didnt believe in them and said they didnt exist while everyone else said they believed in them. That night my brother was on his bed and the ceiling fan fell on his bed just inches from his legs. He made an excuse saying that maybe the ceiling fan was old and fell down. So he continued on for a few days denying that ghosts exist and one night his phone that was lying in the very center of a circular table fell off without the table moving in the middle of the night. He still made excuses about it but I dont think that these events are just coincidences. Anyway a few weeks ago I was talking to my mom while she was drunk and she slipped up about a dream that had run in our family. She said that my great grandmother, my grandmother, her, and my older sister had all have dreams about the Devil killing people like mine was about. But in all of their dreams they said they hid from him and woke up before he found them. I also found out that I was the only male in my family to have that dream, and also the only person who slept through the whole dream. Since my dream nobody else in my family have had that dream and I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Call these coincidental or pure BS if you want but I know what I saw and you cant change my mind.

I have taken a few introductory psychology classes and it was always ineresting reading up on studies of perception and memory.

I wonder if any of these sights/visions could be attributed to overactive neurons (which is what causes hallucinations in schizophrenics and whatnot) or dreams that seem real.

It's particularly neat that memories can actually be constructed, particularly with shaping by a person asking questions. Someone's expectactions can alter or create a memory of something, or see things.

I remember my Mom has a lamp of a little boy with a golf bag as the lamp post. I had a nightmare onetime that the head of the lamp zoomed towards me and scared the **** out of me, and was acting all demonic and all that fun stuff. After that, I flat out refused to sleep with that lamp in my room, and for the most part the lamp creeped me out for a while. I could even swear that the eyes were watching me.

Many years later I stumbled upon that lamp, and it still gave me the shivers. But as I concentrated on it, I found that I could willfully perceive its eyes to be moving....which was a little bit freaky. But as I realized that I did have some control over whether or not that eyes appeared to move simply by concentrating on it, I began to realize that it likely was all in my head :)

As for seeing the devil after your dream, I would imagine that your brain was still in an overactive state and you probably imagined him being there. The neat part is though, is that no one sees what goes into their eyes...everything we see is what the visual sensory cortex of our brain interprets for us (this is how hallucinations occur. Neurons are firing when they shouldn't be firing).

I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like this happens quite frequently immediately following a dream, when you are barely lucid and your synapses are still erratic just like they are when you're dreaming.

But hey, you say you know what you saw (or at least you know what your brain was telling you you saw ).

I forgot how interesting psychology is. I'm going to dig up my old notebooks and familiarize myself with it again. The part I liked most was learning about dreams, that is of course until we started looking into Freud's interpretations. And then we learned about the different brain waves: Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta, as well as REM.

Anyway, on another topic of conspiracy, I read an article a few years back that suggested that weather control was possible. They say evidence of this was shown in October of 2001, also known as the October Outbreak. 20 tornadoes accompanied by high winds and hail hit the Midwest. October is an extremely unusual time of the year for tornadoes to form. Many conspiracy theorists believe that this was a test of weather control technology.

Meh. I think people place too much faith in the recent history of weather as being the way weather is.

I also think people persistently underestimate nature...particularly the weather. If an iceage were to approach, people would assume it was a government plot, despite the fact that they've happened in the past.

Not to mention that El Nino gave me (Edmonton, Alberta) +10 weather in December and snow in Mexico!

Weather does wieeeeeeeeeeeeerd stuff.

As for dreams...yeah, Freud is a bit of a crackpot. I don't mind his rationalization of Id, Ego, and Superego, but the dude was a bit too phallo-centric for my tastes.

There is so much left to be discovered about the brain that it could easily be due to a current mechanism we fail to realize exists or of which we know not the function.

And I find it kind of funny

I find it kind of sad

The dreams in which I'm dying

Are the best I've ever had

I think there is a difference between paranormal activities and conspiracies. I firmly believe conspiracies exist, because it is human nature.

Paranormal activities make for spooky television programming, but I believe in them far less.
