would have been cool if this HAD been in KOTOR...

Recommended Posts

Just to add more flexibility into this RPG... (can never have too many)

Well, if you chose a romance in K1 or K2, some of you probably think it kinda sucks that you have the only romance of all your party members in the Ebon Hawk. Maybe you could have had some of them fall in love with each other (Atton & Mira, Carth & Junahi yuck Mission & Zaalbar yuck as well, incompatible species and all..., Atton & Bao-Der what the hell am I thinking? somebody else might be better at coming up with examples). Then you wouldn't really need to keep your romance a secret, and you can go on double-dates to Nar Shaada or Mos Eisley Cantina and you and the other character can flirt with each other's dates and have a good time. Then if there is a kissing option, you can go for a foursome and you all kiss together? I dunno, but I guess different people have different tastes, and this could have satisfied a certain percentage of gameplayer group. And if you choose not to have a romance, then you just sit back and do your quest while everybody is getting it on with each other all around you. Thoughts?

This isn't a suggestion, btw, just a speculation of the past. Like Star Wars Infinites of KOTOR, what if... or if only... damnit!

What? Why don't you think this could have been a good idea? I think I made this idea perfectly good. In RPG's, different people have different tastes, you know. Just because you don't like it don't mean others won't as well.

I really dont think its that bad a topic. Not compared to some of them. One of the things that always strikes me about romances is you only get those which the designers allow you to have. Usually your not even allowed to pursue anything with non romance characters. Mira at least brushed you off because of your age.

It's not that every character should be open to your advances, but you should at least be able to try.

The jealousy aspect was introduced in KOTORII (several cutscenes triggered depending on your relative influence with certain characters). So it's not like he's just pulling this out of thin air.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

This sounds like a creative idea. You're right, it would add some more versatility and freedom to the game.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

--John Stewart Mill--

"Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns."

I never said it was bad! I said it was random. I actually sorta like the idea, but its just that you make all these odd sounding topics, and they usually are just locked or forgotten. As I said before, its a great idea, though. :( it would add much more intruige into a otherwise tasteless and boring romance.

The more depth your party members' stories have, the happier I'll be, and that includes romance. It doesn't necessarily have to be romance that you manipulate them into, though - romance that occurs independently (possibly randomly?) of the actions of the player works too. How about if one of your party falls in love on a planet you're visiting, and asks to stay behind? Do you let him/her?

Kotor 2 needed more romance. The dark and ambiguous tone of the game called for some fraught, complicated and difficult romantic entanglements, not no entanglements at all.

This is a perfectly good topic - no problem that I can see. :(

The basic idea is quite interesting. In both games your player has been a guide for others (I haven't thought about it that much though, I got an exam Monday), and all party business usually involves you.

One situation that comes to mind (I suppose only works if you're some sort of Master as suggested in a K3 thread), is that you see your Padawan, or even just another Jedi party member in general, falling for another party member, and so you can choose how to address that issue (or even perhaps have the romance sprung on you in a situation).

Well, yeah more character depth and interaction is almost always good. I sort of agree.

That sort of interaction is best left to that sort of game.
True.

neg. I think we're mature enough to handle the physical aspects of love in a game. In fact, I think many of us would prefer to be given the opportunity to handle said physical aspect. Perhaps it would even do us good to experience the eventual consequences of said aspect:

-Exile, there is something I must tell you.

-How unusually straightforward and non-submissive of you, Visas. I take it it is something serious?

-Im afraid so.

-Well, what is it?

-You've knocked me up, you bastard!

-Oh shi.. this means Ill have to quit this Jedi bussiness and get a real job, wont it?

-Yes.

-Damn.

That reminds me of something out of Shining Force.

You meet a wizard who tells you he's about to summon the most scary being in the universe. Puff of smoke and his wife appears.

She then berates him about giving up this magic business and getting a proper job.
