Blackout when going to Dantooine pt.2

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody....

I have searched this forum and didn't find anything useable... So i'm gonna cut straight through and ask for myself...

So i hope you are able to help me...

(I'll make this short)

I've completed all planets and heads back to Dantooine to meet up with the Jedi counsil.

I reach Dantooine and are all ready and stuff, but when i leave my beloved Ebon Hawk, game blanks out. No actually i doesn't blank out completely. I stil have a cursor and various sounds (enviroment sounds and sounds of me pausing :p)

But i can't do squad. I figure that in some way the game still "runs" but ingame is a black screen. I've tried loading both some ebon hawk save-games and a last-planet save-game, but those simple tricks doesn't do the trick.

Anybody know this issue and a way to resolve it?! Or at least some guesses on how to? I would really appriciate it...

My system:

Intel P4 2800MHz 533

512MB DDR ram

Nvidia GeForce FX5200

I suspect the FX5200 to be the problem being the fact that it's an old and flaw-filled graphics card.

I know my hardware is kinda sucky at the moment, or at least only standard, but this meets with the system recuirements..... So....... i DEMAND my game to function properly.... or something like that.

Any ideas?

Actually, a GeForce 5200 should be able to run the game fine, if not too fast. It's a budget card but has the proper support for KOTOR 2.

Have you got the latest video drivers and sound card drivers?

I know others have had this problem too but I don't yet know for sure what causes it. Your video drivers are by far the most likely cause though.

Yeah i've installed the newest driver for GeForce, before posting yesterday. Didn't help... But i'm gonna try some different things now. First i'll redo Korriban (The last planet i visited) to see if it's an in-game flaw... And after that i'll re-install KotorII.... Hope one of these works

And yeah the FX5200 is okay and runs fine with most games... Runs KotorII, WoW, Doom3 (not optimal though ), Rome Total War.... But it couldn'thandle Half-Life 2 o:)

Still looking for some help!

Nvidia's FX series is known to be generally poor at D3D compared to the competition.

Well i know that... But i was just saying that it actually DOES run a lot of games pretty much standard. I've been teased a bit because of that card (wich i understand ) but truth is that it's not completely worthless...

Btw. i AM saving some money for a new card...

But please only post if you have some advice concerning the subject.

Another thread with exactly the same problem exists. It has nothing to do with your card. I have the same problem. If I deleted some game in progress files while running the game I am able to enter Dantooine, but the story goes completely FUBAR, so that's no solution. Seems to be some scripting problem.

Warning; Spoilers

Had the same problem with Dantooine 2 in 2nd game. First game had no problem. As I thought it a hardware/software problem, I reloaded the game, added the 4.11 driver, reloaded the ATI drivers to no avail. Appears to be a game bug. Game plays fine on previous planets and for long periods with no crashes.

Spoilers below:

In 1st game, Light side. Bao Dur did not become a Jedi. Got Force Vision. Fair relations with Kreia. Jedi Watchman. Most else the same.

In 2nd game, Light side. Bao Dur et al became Jedi's. No Force Vision. Poor relations with Kreia. Jedi Weaponsmaster.

Hopefully the patch will fix this. Too bad part of the plot is missing like the robot factory and one chance only options - Force vision, blowing the door in the Sith Academy, no robot battle on the final planet.
