Vampire: Bloodlines question

I've got an imported version - Ukrain, I think - of the game that came with an English version on the disk as well. Is there anyway I can patch the game? I downloaded the official patch, but it said it couldn't determine the version of the game.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

Is the game executable by any chance modified ? Sometimes cracked or infected executables produce a different checksum and are therefore not recognized by patches which use some kind of autoupdate.

Or reinstall the game. I think the patch has problems if it can not determine the correct path to the Bloodlines installation folder from the registry.

I'd would try to unpack the official patch and move the files to the according files manually, although I don't know if it can be done.

Sorry if I could not be any more helpful.
