I spent 39 on my first KOTOR run through, but that's because I was expecting (and got) a fairly simple plotline with a foreseeable twist. I will examine the PC and NPC's words much more carefully with Avellone writing this thing, as I did in Torment.

The first time it took me about 60 hours. I took time to speak with various npcs and explore all the maps, I did not try to do the main and side quests as fast as I could. I was trying to explore dialogue options and see where they could lead me.... (kotor 2 seems to offer much more possibilities in that regard) Afterwars, I played it in about 20-25 hours but that was skipping a lot of dialogues and not exploring the parts of the maps where there was "nothing". However, I always tried to keep a rythm that would made the game enjoyable and never tried to rush to the end.

First time took about 30 hrs, but I did not play pazaack.

The only time that it took more time was when I played pazaack, and thereby gained a hatred for that game.........It did take 50 hrs though.

After that I avoided pazaack like plague. :-

Don't know how anyone could get the game to last 60+ hrs........

OK, maybe if they failed miserably with the swooprace and refused to give up untill the credits ran out. :-

First time I played I was plagued by the 'oops got to run to the store or got to do this' syndrome. Instead of just saving the game like a normal person I'd keep the game on so my first playthrough was 133 hours and 25 minutes :( . After that I averaged about 30. :(

Each swoop race cost = 100 creds

Each swoop race duraction = 20 seconds...

Credits extinguished per minute = 300 :p

At most it could only possibly add 30mins to gameplay :D

My first time through took 30-40 hours. I like tot ake my time. People who rush through dialogue and skip stuff just to 'finish the game" are just silly, imo.

Estimating game play length is a pretty tough thing to do. People play at varying paces and explore different aspects of what's offered to them.

A lot of dialogs have an opt out with the 'I don't care, don't bore me with this' sort of attitude. If someone did that a lot, they'd definitely have a far shorter game experience than someone who thoroughly explores the dialogs.

When I was playing around with the game a couple weeks ago, there was a sequence of cutscenes and dialogs that lasted for over an hour for me, because I was exploring every possible dialog path.  I still don't think it's all the way up to 100 hours, but I'm not a very good judge of that. KotOR2 was a 60 hour game for me.  I tend to play RPGs slower than the average person. I think I spent around an hour talking to Ravel in Torment as well.

Then you have the other end of the spectrum where people can get through the games insanely fast. I believe the QA team for KotOR1 was able to get from start to finish in about 12 hours. My understanding is that it was about the same for KotOR2, but I don't remember for certain.

There is a lot to do in the game, but people's play length times will definitely vary substantially. But we think on average, people will find the game about as long as KotOR1.

I guess it will be 60+ hours for me than because i like to really get into games and just look at every thing because i'm always amazed by the amount of work that is put into games.

Looking at my last save game before meeting Malak (dec 2003), it counts at nice 42 hours and 55 minutes.

I have sold of equipment for more then 100k.

That should give you 1000 runs + (you just have to win some of those runs :p ).

With dialog to enter new race I think that it is more 2 runs a min, which should make for amazing 500 min + racing. If you win 1st race you add 5 more min, if you win next 10 more min and a whooping extra 25 more min (ok not for last of the planets you race) for last win on each planet.

If you want it to last a bit longer you can take practice races for 20cr each and make it last for 2500 min. If you are not ready to puke at the word of swooper race after that you are not human. :p

My math is awful so do you own ... but the minigames might add this amount of "filler time":

I'm not sure the average time it takes to play a pazaak game. If the time it takes you to place a card and click + wait for your opponent to place a card (and listen to the bwang sound until your head explodes) is about 4 seconds ... and it takes at least 2 cards down on your side to win ... and you go first ... and assuming there is a 2 second delay between each round ... and you play a minimum of 3 games to win ... and lets say you blitz through all dialogue in around 15 seconds ....

Add the fact you have ... we'll say at least 20 people (don't remember exact numbers off my head here, so we'll use a nice random, round number) to play pazaak with ...

And you need to beat them say ... 7 times overall (net gain) to play them to the useful prizes / highest payouts ...

4*2 + 2 (games + since you go first) = 10 seconds

10 + 2*3 (round delays) = 16 seconds

16 + 15 (dialogue) = 31 seconds

31*7 (beat them 7 times in a row) = 217 seconds

217 + 31*3 (lose 1 game for every 2 you win, or reload a lot) = 310 seconds

310*20 (# of people) = 6200 seconds

6200/60 = ~103.33 minutes

or ~ 1.72 hours

Racing:

Swoop racing takes ... can't remember how many races to win -- i think it was 3?. Lets say you make 1 mistake (and lose one time) and string together the rest of them as wins.

That would be (if my numbers above were correct to begin with):

4 (3 wins, 1 loss) total runs.

around 20+ seconds a run.

4*20 = 80 seconds

3 tracks * 80 = 240 seconds

(10 sec win/lose animation + 15 sec dialogue)*4 runs*3 tracks = 300 seconds

300 + 240 = 540 seconds

540/60 = 9 minutes

For quest related materials (e.g. dialogue with other racers):

Add 15 minutes of dialogue = 24 minutes

.... so to this point we have: 103.33+24 = 127.33 minutes

Now we add the turrent game.

Suppose you have one turrent game 1/3 the time you travel between planets. If you decide to do some quests crossing around a few times ... lets say you jump back and forth between planets 21 times. If you do that you'll have 7 turrent games.

A typical turrent game starts with a cutscreen sequence + an ending winning sequence. I have no idea how long it takes. Suppose you use the PC version and skip it. It adds approximately 5 seconds on each end to the sequence start + skip (and load encounter) and sequence end + skip (and load planet). That's 10 seconds.

If there are 10 (I have no idea how many targets you have to shoot down anymore) enemy fighters, and you take 4 shots to down each one (you're a bad shot but you aim well), and shoot at a rate of 2 shots per second ... and it takes you 1 second to aim at the fighter ...

10*(2 shots/sec + 1 second aim) = 30 seconds

30 seconds + 10 second sequences = 40 seconds

40 seconds * 7 encounters = 280 seconds

280/60 = ~ 4.67 minutes

127.33 + 4.67 = 132 minutes

So congrats, you've added 132 minutes of additional gameplay!

Or a little over 2 hours.

* forgot to note the 2 seconds it takes to enter a pazaak game and 2 seconds it takes to exit. And the 4 seconds you might spend choosing pazaak cards.

Furthermore, the 5 minutes in game you might ever spend looking at a trader's selection of pazaak cards.
