Sounds a lot like that one journalist that tried to play Cuphead and couldn't figure out how to jump + dash for a solid couple of minutes in the first ten seconds of the tutorial that explicitly laid out how to do it in signs above the player's head...except that the Cuphead guy at least knew how awful he was.

I'm going to repeat myself: Princess Daisy is not in the new Strikers game.

Is she not in it, or is she just not in the announcement footage?

Mario Tennis Aces had 16 characters at launch (ending with 30) and Mario Golf Super Rush also launched with 16 (adding 6 so far).  So I'd be surprised for Strikers to launch with less than 16.  From the trailer for Strikers, I only see 9-10 characters on the field (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Rosalina, Donkey Kong, Toad, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi.  Boom Boom(?) I think is the goalie, who appears to be computer controlled so may not be a player option, hence the 9-10).

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

So I'm going to be a massive wimp and ruin 30% of the video by qualifying everything I say.

1) This is satire.

Oh, thank god, :p.

They show a character selection screen at some point during the video, and she's not in it.

The doesn't necessarily mean she isn't in it, though. She could be a characteradded after launch, or a character who is still in development. 10 characters seem awfully small for a roster.

Yes, well, the fact that she wasn't the first was a crime in of itself!

...I may be shifting the goal posts slightly here.

I liked it.  It wasn't Chrono Trigger level of good, but I enjoyed the game a lot.  But it was more about the journey than the destination I guess.  I'm really excited to play it again and to play the alternate reality Radical Dreamers text game that was never released officially outside of a small Japanese language platform.

Apparently the new Atari is trying to find out who, at old Atari, created the game.

I never understood why people think Chrono Trigger is so great. I liked it, but didn't find it that much better than most of the other RPGs of the time. It and Chrono Cross are about equal in quality, IMO.

Part of why I like Chrono Trigger is that game+ made it so replayable. I could pick it up and finish it in a weekend and hit some great story highlights, which I really couldn't do in FFIII or Shining Force or something.

Nintendo would be greedy to charge for a Princess Daisy DLC, wouldn't they?

I think for the other sports titles the extra characters were free updates.

I hope it stays that way. It's just that my default state of mind for anything to do with AAA gaming is to assume the greediest course of action. Not to mention that Daisy shouldn't be an extra in Nintendo's sports games. I can begrudgingly accept that she gets no love in the mainline Mario games, but in the sports spinoffs she should always be a core character given that she's the tomboy of the princess bunch.

Yeah, I suppose that's a good thing he put the disclaimer there, when you're not familiar with his other videos then that might come across as actually serious. :p

He also did an interpretive reading of Google's T-Rex runner to make fun of allegorical and metaphorical readings, as an April fool's joke. Absolutely baffling. It ends with T-Rex Runner being a commentary on the pointlessness of life as a treadmill, but not before it establishes that the T-Rex is afraid of his own vegetarianism. Yep...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/2022/02/10/homeworld-hardspace-shipbreaker-four-day-workweek-burnout-crunch/

On Sept. 16 of last year, management at Blackbird Interactive, the 300-person studio behind “Hardspace: Shipbreaker” and the upcoming strategy game “Homeworld 3,” sent out a survey. The goal was simple but unheard of in the systematically overworked video game industry: to gauge interest in a four-day workweek.

The timing was, to say the least, auspicious. One anonymous respondent described the “Shipbreaker” team as stressed and burned out, explaining that supporting the game’s early access release had taken “a heavy and unexpected toll.”

Today, Blackbird announced it will permanently adopt a Monday-Thursday workweek across all six of its projects

It’s 4 days work week, but 20h shifts per day 😛

It is interesting to read about constant Shipbreaker crunch. I always though that updates are far and few inbetween and updates to be minimal in content. I do assume it is a relatively tiny team, working on a very complex, simulation driven title. Constant save wipes made me stop playing the game a long time. Patiently waiting for 1.0.

I hope they burn and get bought by Tencent... In the time, when even Andrew Wilson is backtracking from NFTs, They deserve nothing else...

And now something little bit more positive. A one man made space strategy game very keen to realism - Falling Frontier. And it will be available on GOG as well...

Not shown in video, but apparently they have a tentative release date of June 2022.

Y'all already know that Eurojank RPGs are my comfort food and GreedFall was a significant step up for Spiders in terms of quality over their previous games IMHO. Needless to say, I'm super excited for this.

As an aside, Spiders' latest gimmick seems to be slapping 2 words together to form 1 long word. Are we sure they're a French company and not German?:shifty:
