AstraZeneka employees to be vaccinated with competitor vaccines only

we put it into google (fixed the misspell) and got no results for that specific title.

different language? maybe the title isn't quite as described? dunno.

however, first article retrieved based on word search as 'posed to exact title were from npr

It's The Vaccine That's Lost A Lot Of Trust. But AstraZeneca Still Has Its Fans

the following article makes clear that US employees o' astrazeneca must be vaccinated even though they likely are unable to procure the astrazeneca

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/30/business/vaccine-mandate.html

am s'posing its fun for some to pretend as if The Media is monolithic. at the very least doing so simplifies the blame game. regardless, finding the article in question is less ez than finding dozens which dispell any such confusion, so...

is possible the article does exist, and am not doubting somewhere out there in the iterweb somewhere a blog post or fringe story with such a title exists, but is not a The Media thing. simple search o' news shows multitudes o' stories where the need for US astrazeneca employees to be vaccinated is presented w/o a misleading title.

There you go trying to apply reason and logic again.

this is now a particular appropriate thread response.

a is better than b

a is better than c

a is better than d

ad infinitum

formal logic is an elegant but incomplete method for reflecting 'pon the merits o' an argument, but is indeed useful. somebody tells you there is worse options than a and you will indeed be justified in heaping ridicule and scorn 'pon their logic. will never reach a point where you may make a conclusion 'bout the safety or efficacy o' a if the argument is that there is worse alternatives than a. options worse than horse jelly? ok. in the present context is as logical relevant as telling us one's preference regarding the pie v. cake conundrum.

nevertheless, to be fair, we did a few second search on google and discovered beyond simple the possibility o' miscalculating human dosage from a product equines, the stuff in horse jelly in addition to the active ingredient may be toxic to humans. curious discovery: horses and humans is not same. is also an issue with even human quality ivermectin having a somewhat lengthy list o' known drug interactions which may be problematic for a person being treated for covid-19, and such were the reason for doctors balking at using the ivermectin in the aforementioned story involving judge involvement.

regardless, if you are buying horse jelly as a treatment for active covid-19 infection or as a preventative medicine, then you is obvious afraid of covid-19 to some degree. choose horse jelly as 'posed to easily available mitigation and preventative options which is either complete benign or has been tested on many millions o' patients with an extreme low incidence o' side effects is not reasonable. not sure why somebody woulda' wanna argue such a point, but the world is a wide and wacky place, no?

oh, and given the current trend o' willful weirdness, we checked illinois and delaware for vaccine verification protocols, just for funsies.

https://coronavirus.delaware.gov/vaccine/

https://dph.illinois.gov/news/idph-launches-online-vax-verify-system

https://dph.illinois.gov/vaxverify

is a state-by-state thing, but delaware and illinois is most definite keeping records regarding vaccinations. that said, is likely nobody woulda' bothered to verify legitimacy o' chloe mrozak's credentials but for the misspelling. keeping her mouth shut once cops suspicion were aroused woulda' annoyed the local constabulary and no doubt convinced 'em she were guilty o' something, but am suspecting the gig were functional up at that point regardless.

however, to be fair, is almost always best for people to keep their mouth shut when dealing with cops. you should provide police/authorities your id 'cause is no benefit in resisting such a proffer even if is not legal required. do not resist arrest, but if you believe you is being arrested, then make sure you ask if you are being arrested and state clear you are not complying voluntarily with an arrest even if you are going along peaceably. only other thing you need say is, "lawyer." no sweary. no threats. no explanations or claims o' innocence.

HA! Good Fun!

ps we misspelled delaware 2x in the 'bove post .

Also this is the first time I have heard about it and I follow the SA news about  the virus and its current impact. Of course I may have missed it but I doubt it so you will find the story is true but the actual risk of this " Doomsday " variant is not necessarily true because until we see real cases and numbers

And the good news is the SA vaccination rollout is going as well as it can so most of us should have vaccine resistance to the new virus even if it becomes the main variant which means we should avoid hospitalizations and deaths which is the main objective .....its not about getting  exposed to the virus so much as we cant avoid that in most cases

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. the news site is Greek so you won't find it if you search the title in English

i didn't generalize about the media, i simply stated one example of how they end up spreading misinformation even if unwillingly. way too many people make an assumption based on an article's title without reading it and if the title is misleading it could start a huge wave of misinformation. I've already heard people referring to that article by only having read the title and thinking that AZ doesn't trust their own vaccine. one of them even said that he will postpone his vaccination to wait for a free slot for another vaccine. all because of a clickbait article name... that he didn't even click on

here's a very well written summary of why many people refuse the vaccine

https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/vaccines-konstantin-kisin

who's right and who's wrong only time will tell. but there's plenty of reason to not trust and very little, if any, to trust anything unless you see it with your own eyes.

the media has a habit of spreading misinformation about anything they decide we don't need to know, this is not an opinion its a proven fact.  i simply pointed one example of it happening by accident because of the need for a clickbait title.

here's an example. stores looted, cars and buildings on fire, dozens of dead, a complete disregard for covid lockdowns and media companies like CNN called the protests peaceful... and as soon as Trump was out, it all was swept under the rug as if the problems that triggered this situation never existed.

I tend to  agree that many media houses will frame things based on their own biases and views even if they, for example,  dont specifically say " we support BLM protests even when they are violent but we dont acknowledge the violence and blame the police "  But if you take CNN they also raise valid issues and raise important issues so I feel they do more  good than bad

And also what is unusual in the US is the prevalence of " opinion pieces "  where  you have media houses, like FOX  and MSNBC, that often report using opinion journalism and not " normal " journalism based on facts and not being biased both intentionally and unintentionally

But I have definitely noticed what you have observed at times and I have raised this on this forum and other places. So in example  we have months of violent protests in Portland and generally CNN doesnt focus on the violence and criminality of some the protestors but will focus on the police response and the deployment of Federal security forces as draconian

A medium is not media, to prove that media does something you need to prove that all the mediums do something.

Also you make false statements about those protest which CNN is reffing as there were no deaths in said protest.

Also even with questionable caption, CNN did show live footage from protest showing burning cars and they mentioned looting that occurred. So they actually reported everything that happened in protest. Meaning that it is questionable if there was actually any misinformation in that example you provided, it mostly show that person who made info graphic that day has questionable view what peaceful means

the simple fact is that the media are corporations and corporations have interests and agendas and political affiliations. so if they can spin a story in a way that promotes their point of view they will do it.

46% of hospital doctors here are against mandatory vaccination if you hear one news report and in another they say that its just a 1% of conspiracists. meanwhile in a tv channel, a representative of the doctor's union said that all hospitals are currently severely understaffed because unvaccinated doctors were suspended and in a different channel a government representative said that the healthcare system is ready to deal with the 4th covid wave. when you have so much conflicting information, someone's have to be lying

there are some corporations among media, but big sunk of media aren't corporations

0.5% of hospital doctors are against mandatory vaccinations here, so that percentage probably is misinformation based on inaccurate survey

EDIT: Also less than 1% of doctors specialize field where they get more than basic information about vaccinations so your average doctor usually doesn't know that much about vaccines or how they actually work, which surveys about vaccines that target whole medical doctorate are more than bit questionable as policy guideline

Potential COVID-19 treatment: Effective, cheap, available

Quote

In their as yet unpublished findings, Mills and colleagues evaluated the drug in 3,238 Brazilian patients with COVID-19 symptoms who were at risk of progressing to severe disease.

Patients were randomly given fluvoxamine 100 mg twice daily for 10 days or placebo.

The primary outcomes was emergency room observation for more than 6 hours or hospitalization up to 28 days after randomization; the secondary outcomes were viral clearance at day 7, the time to hospitalization, death, and adverse reactions.

Of the included patients, 739 received fluvoxamine, 733 placebo, and 1,766 other treatments including hydroxychloroquine, lopivinar/ritovinar, metformin, ivermectin, doxazosin, and interferon lambda.

The investigator reported that of those receiving fluvoxamine, the risk of emergency room observation for over 6 hours or hospital admission was lower compared with placebo, i.e., 77 of 739 compared with 108 of 733, respectively.

No significant adverse events were seen compared with placebo on the viral clearance at day 7, mortality, time to death, number of days on ventilation, or other secondary outcomes.

It's curious that an anti-depressant would look promising, but apparently it also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines

Quote

In a murine sepsis model, fluvoxamine was found to bind to the sigma-1 receptor in immune cells, resulting in reduced production of inflammatory cytokines. In an in vitro study of human endothelial cells and macrophages, fluvoxamine reduced the expression of inflammatory genes. Further studies are needed to establish whether the anti-inflammatory effects of fluvoxamine observed in nonclinical studies also occur in humans beings and are clinically relevant in the setting of COVID-19.

Long COVID: an estrogen-associated autoimmune disease?

Quote

What are the factors responsible for this syndrome? Organ damage caused by an excessive inflammatory response activated by the virus, but also an autoimmune reaction “unmasked” by the virus itself, perhaps due to molecular mimicry with some components of our body, could be responsible for the symptoms of Long COVID. The autoimmune hypothesis could justify the higher incidence of this syndrome in women. In fact, the immune response for both genetic and hormonal factors is stronger in women than in men and this represents a double-edged sword: the outcome of acute COVID-19 is more severe in men but autoimmune reactions are more frequent in women. Hence, the study of the appearance of autoantibodies in patient serum and the characterization of the specificity of these autoantibodies could be an important goal to begin to identify personalized and specific treatments also based on the sex of patients affected by Long COVID.

If true, this doesn't seem like a good outcome.
