Blasphemy. SR4 had the best iteration of the best mini-game, Insurance Fraud.

To be fair, CDP has very clearly and explicitly said they are NOT doing Witcher 4 and that Geralt's story is over and done. What they are doing is a fourth game using the Witcher franchise (and presumably the Witcher setting). We (and others) are simply calling it Witcher 4 as a kind of shorthand. But it's not really Witcher 4, and (again going by CDP's public statements) won't even be titled "Witcher" anything.

Good.  Glad to see developers are in conjunction with many players who are getting tired of sequel after sequel with the same characters.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

The only SR I ever played was SR3

I only played it in co-op with a friend though (and she's a killer with a gun!). No idea what it would have been like playing it solo 🤔

(Some of the DLC stuff was pretty fun too, like the sci-fi parts, silly, but fun when doing it co-op)

I played and completed  SR3 & 4 and they were fun, nothing compared to the brilliant GTA series of course but the game design is intentionally not suppose to be the same

They the type of game series I would only recommend you buy when they on a huge discount , 70-90 %, on Steam or other gaming distribution websites

I really want to like SR4 the most, because it has so much funny crap in it, but sadly it made driving cars and stuff completely useless, which is why I find SR3 better.

Here is some good news from the owners of GTA and RDR2, record profits and of course this bodes well for gaming generally so its good news for  all of us irrespective if this profitability is about the holding company Take-Two

https://www.polygon.com/22444608/resident-evil-horror-eugenics-military-government-themes

I found this article interesting but I am never convinced by false equivalences to developments or historical crimes linked to thinks like white supremacy  only ( The Japanese in WW2 also believed and practiced  eugenics as mentioned  )or Capitalism ....I dont see the valid connection between an economic system and the flawed science of eugenics?

But its  a good read....I love the confirmation bias at the end of the article where the writer says

" but what truly makes it a classic is its ever-evolving narrative that reflects the fears in our modern society: eugenics, white supremacy, the military industrial complex, and capitalism "

Since when did Capitalism become something our societies fear....by that argument does that mean we do not fear socialism or Communism ?

Thats interesting, but that really leaves loads of questions ...we dont even know who the main character will be but that shouldnt be an issue yet. I can think of lots exciting ideas of narratives for the main quest so CDPR will be fine with all their talented writers

For example it could be about another Witcher trying to rebuild his specific Witcher school, like the School of Vipers? And if its not even about a Witcher their are plenty of other stories and events to integrate the game into like something Nilfgaardian ?

Anyway I am going to be positive until something makes me question that 8)

At one time one of these individuals long associated with the The Witcher series (may be one of those who's now left) posted on social media asking fans what they thought of the game being about Ciri's post-TW3 life. And yes, it could also be about some other witcher. But I believe CDP has stated that when it comes to the game's title, they see "THE Witcher" as Geralt, whose story is done.

It could very much be an issue IMO. What made Witchers great was that Geralt is perfectly suited for an RPG with narrative choices, with a heavily defined protagonist - even back in books he is a neutral party with his own goals, having to deal with outside forces and "choosing the lesser evil" - a perfect RPG protagonist with set motivations and goals, and yet space to allow players to make choices. Trying to do the same but with Ciri or a new character could not work so well. I am not terribly worried though - CDPR "got" Witcher world well, and at this point I doubt they will majorily mess it up, even if W4 will be weaker then W3. Even Thronebreaker, from what I played, was more or less alright.

How about an RPG where you can be all sorts of alignments and funnel your own narrative?  Good, Bad, and Ugly.  To me that's a perfect RPG protagonist, not constant Clint Eastwood larping.

SR2 is worth playing.

It's... interesting. They haven't totally embraced the wacky like SR3 and 4 did, and the story runs through some elements that one minute is insanely over the top and has you giggling, and then it serves up something horrifying and emotionally a gut punch. Before running right back to giggling insane.

You can definitely see how they were trying to find their unique identity, and they still manage to pull in Keith David, along with Neil Patrick Harris as Veteran Child just makes it so worthwhile.

Sure, but that's unrealistic if you also want to be nice looking game, with cinematics and good VO (see: Baldur's Gate3 and the Mistery of Confused Identity), and if you make an adaptation of book series, with Clint-Eastwood-but-fantasy protagonist - seriously, first short story recreates opening of A Fistfull of Dollars/Yojimbo

Hey, don't diss on Gat out of Hell.

Who didn't want a musical and Daniel Dae Kim belting out those numbers?

This is the only good thing that came out of that product. Might as well just look it up on youtube instead of wasting time and suffering through the rest of it.

Gat Out of Hell was definitely a disappointment, but you did get to play as the best Saints Row character, Kinzie Kensingston. You could play as Johnny Gat as well.

That's absolutely how I feel as well.

I did mean to replay SR4's Christmas DLC for Christmas every year. But I keep forgetting

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
