Heh, it's a hassle just letting my son play my games right now on steam. The family mode doesn't work well. Basically we can't both play two different games online at the same time.

In a related story, is Shin Megami Tensei V still happening? I haven't heard so much as a whisper about that in a very long time. If there's anything that can goad me into buying a Switch, that would be it. Zelda's Wild Breath couldn't do it, Mario Hat Game couldn't do it, but the thought of a brand new MegaTen existing and me unable to play it would be enough to keep me up at night.

There hasn't been any updates recently that i've seen (last was last year), but the official site says its due this year (my guess December if it doesn't slip).

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

On a game related tangent...

BBC - Loot boxes linked to problem gambling

The link between gaming loot boxes and problem gambling has been "robustly verified", according to a new report.

The report, carried out by researchers at the universities of Plymouth and Wolverhampton, found that loot boxes "are structurally and psychologically akin to gambling".

It also found that large numbers of children are opening loot boxes.

The UK government is already considering whether gambling laws should cover such loot boxes.

Big Flaw in Sony PS3 and PS4 DRM. As soon as Sony decides to cut of PSN support for your console, and the CMOS battery runs out, you lose access to all of your digital content. In the case of PS4, you’ll lose also your disc based content...

Thankfully for Arnold, he is not much interested in online gaming, it would be real pain for him to have some fun in current times 🤷‍♂️

So the Diablo 2 Resurrected technical alpha thingy is running this weekend. Sadly I did not get an invite. :(

Watching some streams right now. Looks... pretty much like D2, but in new.

I dunno I don't think anything can top Grim Dawn, it's like the better-than-Diablo Diablo.  Bobby Kotick wouldn't allow such a finely complex mechanics in a new D game.

Techland Dying Light 2 Q&A

(barely worth reading tbh, no definite answers to important questions, but a few interesting technical tidbits)

Thats a good, albeit short, update to the much anticipated game. I consider it more of a " yes this game is not vaporware, its still coming out "  update not so much technical but I did like the real gaming footage at the end

It might be a couple of years old now, but its an interesting look at how the story was developed and aspects around it:

Haha EGS just keeps shoveling Fortnite cash into their store hoping that someday the store will be viable and a peer competitor to Steam.

Where's all the Chinese gamers at?  With a population of 1.4b you'd think that would give them a boost cos Westerners clearly prefer Steam.

Not gonna go into early access titles anymore that won't feature all the content. My experience with this stuff is that I will play the existing content a lot and once the full game is released, I'm already burned out from it and will likely not touch it again for a long time.

Totally in agreement with this.  Not to mention playing the demo of 'Colony Ship' was akin watching paint dry, for lack of a better term.

"To paraphrase another review from a lifetime player; over 30 years of playing RPGs. "Above all, a game should be FUN FUN FUN". This game is strictly for those who want a game where they can show off their mathematical/statistical skills. Look Ma; if I put 10 points in here and 8 points in there I can win. A game shouldn't be about starting 10 times until you get the formula to win right. "

Well, sounds like Age of Decadence. : >

Loved AoD, but I agree that it's much too tough on some of the numbers most of the time, which removes freedom and railroads you into fixed paths, imo. At this point, why even have the ability to spend points, if you have to follow very specific builds anyways?

I remember starting to watch an AoD LP some years ago just to see what the game was like. Let's just say that if real-life knives were as deadly as they were shown to be in the brief combat segment I saw, Julius Caesar would still be alive.
